The Sandbox is set to bring a heavy metal-themed experience to its voxel-based metaverse by partnering with record label Nuclear Blast to create Blast Valley.
Blast Valley is set to be a dedicated environment “designed by heavy metal fans, for heavy metal fans,” where players will get to complete quests about “reclaiming the power of heavy music.” These quests will take place around a magical volcano that embodies this power of heavy metal music and is located at the heart of Blast Valley, meant to bring together “all creatures living in the land” to form as a band to perform on stage. As a result, this upcoming metaverse experience will give players a heavy metal festival atmosphere as they complete quests, encounter demons and attend the premieres of virtual concerts. By forming this partnership, The Sandbox looks forward to bringing “the music and culture of heavy metal into the metaverse” with Nuclear Blast at the helm of the initiative, the latter planning “utilize its influence” to promote and host various virtual events in their new metaverse home.
The COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, said the following in the official announcement:
“Nuclear Blast is bringing its global influence and an entirely new energy into the metaverse. Heavy metal belongs in our platform and provides the opportunity for tremendous creative expression, resulting in an immersive world unlike any other. We’re tremendously excited to make The Sandbox the home of the genre in the metaverse, and look forward to participating in the novel experiences that will launch in Blast Valley.”
