The Sandbox Invests $1.7 Million In Metaverse Start-up INDEX GAME

INDEX GAME, the Hong Kong based metaverse agency, has signed an investment agreement with The Sandbox. As a result, the company has become the first officially appointed metaverse agency by The Sandbox. Together The Sandbox and INDEX GAME will work on metaverse development, creating play-to-earn games and enhancing the Web3 ecosystem. 

INDEX GAME is a new company in the blockchain industry and recently completed its first anniversary. The company focuses on designing voxel-based NFT assets, providing advertising solutions, buying and selling lands, and building game experiences.

About the investment

The Hong Kong based start-up INDEX GAME secured UA$1.7 million in funding from The Sandbox. The Sandbox will invest more in this company over time, and by 2023 the investment amount is expected to reach US$6 million. The Sandbox will also provide an exclusive arrangement to INDEX GAME for the IPs created as a result of this collaboration.

During the past year, INDEX GAME has collaborated with several well-known Hong Kong based brands and has built four experiences in The Sandbox. The projects include South China Morning Post’s first metaverse experience of Hong Kong Star Ferry Pier. The second project was Kowloon Walled City: The City of Darkness, based on a Hong Kong situation from the 1970s. The third project was Hanjin Music Palooza: The Monstrous Multicolor Guitar, which featured Chinese Musician Hanjin Tan and the fourth project was GO!GingerOnion 5**College from Hang Seng Bank.

Besides these exciting projects, INDEX GAME is also working on an NFT voxel project called Master 8 in The Sandbox. Master 8 is the first Chinese martial arts NFTs in the Sandbox. The goal of creating this project was to preserve the historical legacy of Kung Fu by developing NFTs on this theme. The collection, including 12 NFTs inspired by Martial Arts, was released in May this year on The Sandbox Marketplace.

What is the INDEX GAME?

INDEX GAME is a metaverse start-up that provides metaverse experience on The Sandbox for brands and IPs. The company focuses on designing lands, hubs, galleries, social experiences, and voxel-based NFT assets on The Sandbox metaverse. They also make land acquisitions for brands to access the metaverse and help bring marketing ideas by building voxel-based animations. 

INDEX GAME is also building an INDEX academy which will provide training opportunities to LAND architects. INDEX GAME will be bringing 3 new experiences to The Sandbox Alpha Season 3 including Hong Kong’s Star Ferry Pier releasing of August 30, 2022, Hanjin Music Palooza releasing on 1st September and Hong Kong Walker on October 7, 2022. These Hong Kong based gaming experiences from Index Game will allow players to win exciting rewards.

What is The Sandbox?

Built on the Ethereum blockchain and now migrating to Polygon, The Sandbox is a collection of user-created gaming and social experiences. The Sandbox consists of plots of varying sizes made of voxel-based blocks. Landowners build and customize their own experiences with block editing, hand-crafted assets, and a built-in scripting language.
