Web3 roguelite The Backwoods has launched the $LEAF Season, giving the web3 gaming community a new opportunity to play to airdrop the game’s upcoming token.
$LEAF Season is a big airdrop campaign in The Backwoods that runs from June to July and features a prize pool of 150 million tokens up for grabs for over 500k wallets, making it possibly “one of the largest community-driven airdrops in web3 gaming.”
A major addition to this season is the introduction of Leaf Hunt. Leaf Hunt is a dedicated browser extension that gives players a new way to earn rewards. Specifically, this season’s own extension, called “The Backwoods Chrome Extension” on the Chrome Web Store and linked on a dedicated page of the official website, lets you earn Crystals by finding LEAF on your X timeline. You will see the icon attached to certain X posts, and replying to them is rewarded with a random amount of Crystals. Your reply to the post needs to include “leaf season” in the text to claim the reward. This quest can be done twice a day, and if you do it at least once 7 days in a row, you will unlock a bonus quest that can earn you 1000 Crystals. You can spend Crystals in-game on chests to gain gear that can make your character stronger. Once you install the extension, make sure to sign out and sign back in to your account in the game’s launcher in order to properly have your account status synced with the extension, enabling you to start earning rewards by being an active member of the game’s community on X.
The event also brings with it a number of new features to the Solana-powered title. These include new map scenes and sub-camps, a new pet system that lets you hatch eggs for bonuses, and an updated season pass with new rewards. You will now also find that chests drop from bosses, and you don’t need any keys to open them! Various significant bug fixes and polishing has also been done for an even better blockchain gaming experience.
Here’s how you can get started for free!
You can play to earn an airdrop allocation of $LEAF this season for free right now by playing the action-packed title on your web browser. To play for free, you need to connect your Solana wallet as well as your X and Discord accounts.
As we’ve already covered how the social-focused extension works, let’s go over the gameplay and how that side of the event is rewarded. The Backwoods is a browser-based roguelite in which you enter a 2D arena and attempt to survive as many waves of monsters as you can in order to get the highest score possible. It’s basically like Vampire Survivors and games of similar style. As you take down enemies you collect coins that you can use to buy various items as well as melee and ranged weapons during your run. The more active you are and the better your in-game performance is, the bigger your share of airdrop rewards from gameplay could potentially be.
The season started on June 24 and should run through all or most of July. Detailed info on eligibility snapshots, claim windows, and appeal submission dates are all planned to be announced soon via the game’s official social channels.
Next to anyone participating in this season, $LEAF is also planned to be distributed to early adopters, alpha testers, creators, contributors, partnered projects & NFT communities, and Genesis Hero NFT holders. So, whether you’re a newcomer, an experienced player, or a long-time NFT holder, there are airdrop rewards up for grabs for everyone. Specific allocation details for each group is set to be unveiled later on. The TGE date does not seem to have been announced yet either at the time of writing. Back when they did a $LEAF airdrop campaign last year, the TGE was supposed to take place in Q3 or Q4 2024.
If you’ve actively played the game and stayed active within its community since the closed alpha version, you should now be able to add closed alpha points to your account by connecting your Discord on a dedicated claim page. On that same claim section of the game’s official website, you can also find a tab for compromised wallets, so if you unfortunately got your wallet drained earlier, you can report it there to secure your points.
