Web3 gaming ecosystem Sugartown has officially introduced CORES, teasing plans to have minting take place soon on the Abstract Chain.

What Are Sugartown CORES?

CORES represent a new NFT collection in the Sugartown ecosystem. With assets from this collection, users will play games, stake to earn, and bet with friends. The collection is set to power a new feature called The Laboratory, which is said to be designed to bring users to the platform’s “High Stakes Playground” and give players new ways to play and earn, according to the official X thread. The same thread mentions active and passive gaming as avenues through which participants will be rewarded.

The High Stakes Playground is set to expand this ecosystem with social experiences in which players will be able to play and bet against each other. It looks like you will be able to search for any player to challenge, seeing their win rate and the number of games they’ve played before doing so. Betting will be done in crypto, with the official trailer embedded in the thread showing ETH as the currency used to make challenges. The footage also shows a variety of casual games you might get to play, such as poker and a clone of Geometry Dash. Through the NFT-powered The Laboratory and High Stakes Playground, the team aims to “bridge crypto to the world through innovation” by using blockchain technology to provide users with value and potentially fun through risk-and-reward type web3 gaming. Specifically, it looks like players will be able to win an upcoming token that’s referred to as, well, $WIN. Whether staking the new NFT, playing games actively, betting, or earning passively, it seems that all these methods will allow you to earn $WIN tokens. Details on the launch of the $WIN token are not available at the time of writing, with the team clarifying that it won’t be a stealth launch, so you can expect to see a proper announcement from official social media channels in the future.

This isn’t the platform’s first NFT collection. The original one is the Oras NFT collection that launched back in 2023 on the Ethereum network. According to the announcement of the new collection, if you happen to hold 3 or more Oras NFTs, you can expect “some extra special surprises”. It’s not yet known what this exactly means. Possibly a whitelist for the NFT mint? It’s also not clear if any snapshot has already been taken to award loyal NFT holders. The Oras NFT collection however can be found on OpenSea for the floor price of 0.145 ETH at the time of writing.

How to Get Whitelisted for Sugartown CORES Mint

Since announcing the CORES NFT collection this early April, Sugartown has been providing the blockchain gaming community with opportunities to get whitelisted for the upcoming NFT mint on the Abstract Chain.

If you want to get whitelisted for the CORES NFT mint, you will likely want to keep an eye out on the ecosystem’s official X account and Discord server as well. On X, you can submit your story on the craziest thing you did to get whitelisted, with the best submissions on this X thread likely to be revealed soon. Liking and retweeting this more recent post could also help you get whitelisted. You can expect various collabs to appear for more ways to get whitelisted through “giveaways, activations, and more!” Info on when the NFT mint will take place and what the supply will be is not yet known.

Sugartown was initially announced in 2023 as the first web3 game by FarmVille creator Zynga. In September 2024 however, Zynga sold Sugartown to D20 Labs, making them the current team to be powering this play to earn gaming ecosystem.
