The second co-branded sneaker collection from STEPN and the Argentina Football Association (AFA) is set to launch exclusively on STEPN GO. This release introduces a limited run of golden Genesis Sneakers that celebrate Argentina's championship legacy in global football. Only 100 sneakers will be available, including the first-ever Uncommon Genesis Sneakers in the app's history.
The raffle mint opens on July 29 and ends on August 1. The drop will take place on MOOAR, using a refundable ticket system. Users who are not selected will have their ticket refunded in full. Each of the four sneaker types includes one Uncommon variant, making this one of the rarest drops in the STEPN GO platform to date.
Upcoming Social Challenges Before the Drop
Leading up to the release, STEPN GO is launching four themed community challenges on its official X account. These social contests will be live for two weeks and are open to all users, regardless of whether they plan to join the raffle mint.
Participants will take part in creative and movement-based tasks that combine football culture with in-app gameplay. Each challenge offers a chance to win either one of the new golden Genesis Sneakers or a prize of 5,000 GMT. In total, the contest series will give away four sneakers and 20,000 GMT, STEPN's ecosystem token used across its products.
The 4 challenges are designed around football themes and daily movement. One involves running a GPS route shaped like a trophy. Another invites users to show their juggling skills. The third requires sprinting using Energy in the app. The final task, called the 3x3x3, is based on Argentina's three World Cup wins and asks users to complete three runs of three minutes each over three days. All 4 activities tie into the campaign's central message: Move Like a Champion.
What Is STEPN GO?
STEPN GO is the latest social lifestyle app built by the creators of STEPN. While the original STEPN app focuses on solo movement and direct token rewards through a Move to Earn model, STEPN GO builds a more social and interactive experience. It encourages players to move daily while connecting with others and competing in new ways.
A core part of STEPN GO is the Haus system. This feature allows users to share NFT sneakers with others and split the earnings. It opens the platform to more casual users who might not own sneakers themselves. PvP battles are also available, where users can compete in challenges to earn extra GMT.
Another new layer is outfit crafting and trading. Players can customize their avatars with crafted digital items and trade them within the app. These additions bring a casual game-like feel to the platform, making it more about self-expression and daily engagement than just physical exercise.
New Tokens and Easier Access
Unlike STEPN, which runs on GST and GMT, STEPN GO includes a new onchain currency called GGT (Go Game Token). GGT is earned through a mix of movement, social interaction, and joining daily game activities.
The onboarding experience has also been simplified. New users no longer need to set up a web3 wallet or manage NFT transfers manually. The app hides many of the usual blockchain mechanics to make the process smoother. This change is designed to appeal to users outside the crypto world who still want to join a social fitness community.
How STEPN GO Compares to STEPN
Though both apps are built by the same team, they offer different experiences. STEPN is designed around classic Move to Earn gameplay. Users walk or run, earn GST, and trade sneaker NFTs in a marketplace. It has a more focused approach centered on rewards through motion.
STEPN GO, by contrast, brings social interaction to the forefront. Players can add friends, message each other, and take part in team tasks. PvP modes offer head-to-head competition, and sneaker sharing removes entry costs. The crafting and trading system adds another layer of daily activity.
The app also focuses on being accessible. Because STEPN GO removes technical barriers like wallets and tokens, it appeals to users who might otherwise avoid web3 apps. For those new to crypto, it offers a light and easy entry point into the world of movement gaming.
Inside the AFA Collab
This sneaker drop builds on an earlier partnership between STEPN and the Argentina Football Association. In the first drop, which launched earlier this year on the original STEPN app, users were offered sneakers designed around key symbols of Argentina's football culture. Each sneaker paid tribute to things like historic jerseys, trophy wins, and iconic designs.
That first collection sold out in under 24 hours. Genesis holders from the launch were later rewarded with real-world giveaways, including official AFA jerseys signed by Lionel Messi and other national team players. These rewards helped bridge the gap between digital items and physical value, giving sneaker holders exclusive perks beyond the app.
The second drop brings the same concept to the newer STEPN GO platform. It not only features golden designs but also introduces new rarity levels with Uncommon Genesis Sneakers for the first time. This makes the drop unique both in appearance and availability. The golden designs match the campaign's focus on pride, competition, and championship heritage.
Joining the Raffle Mint
To take part in the raffle, users must register on MOOAR. The mint runs from July 29 through August 1. Tickets for the raffle are fully refundable, so anyone who doesn't win a sneaker will automatically get their funds back.
Winners of the raffle will receive a digital Genesis Sneaker that can be used directly in the STEPN GO app. Sneaker holders can equip the item, join movement tasks, and take part in special events. Each sneaker is also a tradeable digital asset within the platform.
As for the social challenge rewards, winners will be announced over the course of the campaign. Players are encouraged to follow STEPN GO on X for updates, submission windows, and contest results. Whether users join for the movement, the creativity, or the prizes, the campaign is designed to keep the community active and involved right up until the mint opens.
