The developers of Web3 space shooter StarHeroes have announced that the Grand Opening Tournament is kicking off with the first Qualification Tournament on Sunday, January 28th at 5 PM UTC.
In this tournament, teams of 3 will fight their way through one of the 3 Qualification Tournaments in an effort to reach the Qualification Final for a chance at being one of the 2 teams to battle it out for the winning prize at the Crypto Community Conference in Warsaw on February 17th.
All Qualification Tournaments are played online using the West Europe server region and a double elimination, BO1 (Best of 1) competition format. Each round will use the 3v3 Starpush mode and last for 30 minutes, while the duration of every tournament is 4 hours. Map selection is determined by having the lower seed team ban the first map, and then the opposing team bans the second map, meaning that the map that gets left unbanned is the one that will be played on.
If you miss out on the first Qualification Tournament, then you can try registering for the second one that will take place on Wednesday, January 31th at 6 PM UTC, or the third one on Sunday, February 4th, which starts at 5 PM UTC. Every team is allowed to have one substitute player. Tournaments will be hosted using the Challonge platform, and up to 32 teams can register for each Qualification Tournament.
The top 2 teams from each Qualification Tournament will progress to the Qualification Finals which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 10th, at 5 PM UTC. Starpush is the game mode that is also used for this online tournament, but the format is round robin, BO1 (Best of 1). The map selection method remains the same, and so does the 30-minute round duration, with this tournament lasting 2.5 hours. According to the announcement, if there is a tied score, then who ranks higher depends on the head-to-head result between the tied teams.
A total prize pool of $6500 worth of rewards is up for grabs across all the competitions part of the Grand Opening Tournament.
Specifically, each Qualification Tournament has a $300 USDC prize pool, with the whole prize going to the winner of each Qualification Tournament.
