Patch 1.4 for Spider Tanks is now officially live, introducing a host of upgrades to the game’s systems while introducing a freecam for spectators and more goodies.
In patch 1.4, players can experience a new version of Drop Pods, where Captains can now “redeploy” one or all of their Drop Pods “using the previous build in the Drop Pod.” This change makes the experience smoother for those managing multiple Drop Pods and working with long-term Pilots.
Captains now also have the option to “Unpack” or “Unpack All,” which means that when a Pilot is done with using your Tank, it will continue to stay in the Drop Pod until unpacked, allowing you to see the Pilot’s progress from the previous day before you collect their Tank parts. There is also an “Unlock” option for deployed Drop Pods that lets you return your Tank straight away from the Pilot it was sent to. This option is free for the first 10 minutes of deployment, after which it costs Arachnium to use. The price is 0.5 Arachnium per 12 hours of deployment.
Depending on how rare your Drop Pod is, you can now choose different time periods for deployment, making it possible to have a Drop Pod deployed for up to 144 hours.
Next to these improvements for Drop Pods, the developers have introduced a Freecam, allowing spectators to freely move their camera around in Exhibition matches.
The Killfeed has been revamped, providing more information than ever before. With this new in-game UI, you have multiple new ways to stand out in a match, as info about multikills are now broadcasted to the entire match, while the player who makes first blood gets a shoutout and extra points. If you take down the same player 2 times before they destroy you, you’ll get a notification that you are dominating them, granting you extra points once the match ends. If you happen to be on the other end of the stick, then you can get a revenge notification by destroying the player dominating you, awarding you with extra points.
