The developers of web3 sci-fi MMORPG Space Nation Online have shared a new roadmap for 2025 and beyond while giving the blockchain gaming community a first look at one of the team’s upcoming products, Project Grok.

What Does the New Space Nation Roadmap Reveal?

The new roadmap reveals plans to expand beyond Space Nation’s flagship web3 game to turn the IP into a large entertainment franchise with “multiple gaming genres & platforms & mainstream channels.”

In order to craft “an immersive space opera universe spanning” and create the home for sci-fi gaming, the studio’s multi-year plan is to rollout a gaming series through which they aim to activate their universal governance token $OIK, as well as their interoperable gaming assets: Alpha Gate, Prime Navigator, Spaceships, and Crews. The team kicked off this series in 2024 with the soft launch of Space Nation Online and the release of casual idle game Orion on X.

For 2025, the goal is to bring the idle game Orion to Telegram, launch an AI gaming intelligence companion called “First Mate” for their main MMO, and release a new, AI native game that seems to be referred to as “NIO”. An accompanying video almost 3 minutes long for NIO is embedded in the official announcement thread on X, revealing it to be a battle royale in which 25 AI agents battle it out on Nio, a moon covered in rocks and ice fields that orbits the planet Naxia in the Oikos star system. Every AI agent will have their own personality, abilities, as well as memories, all of which will affect their strategies. The AI agents will play as Crews and get to scavenge for resources, weapons, and supplies each match. When they come into contact, they’ll decide whether to fight, run, deceive, or form alliances, all until there is one winner. It looks like players will be able to support crews with materials, gadgets, and 20+ types of supply drops. Dynamic text-based events will occur each round as well, making each match a unique AI-generated story. The video is a demo showcasing 2D gameplay for demonstration purposes only, so everything could still change for the official launch.

In this same year, there are also plans to transform membership platform Logistikos into a completely functional gaming platform and entertainment platform, acting as the gateway to all games and entertainment products that launch as part of this sci-fi ecosystem. You can look forward to seeing Logistikos have its own game store and launcher, transmedia entertainment platform, account and profile system, quests and rewards, NFT launchpad, and NFT marketplace.

Next year, the plan is to launch space shooter Project Grok, tower defense mobile game Aegis, and Season 1 of Space Nation’s own live action TV series. For 2027, the goal is to release two mobile games: casual shooter Arcturus, and midcore SRPG Perseus. In 2028, the plan is to launch midcore TCG Corvus, while 2029 could mark the release of mobile midcore LBS “Earth” and 2030 is set to be the creation of the Space Nation Metaverse.

What Is Space Nation’s Project Grok?

Project Grok is an upcoming AA space shooter set in the Space Nation universe. It’s currently in development and is planned to launch on PC and consoles at some point in 2026. We don’t know which console exactly yet it seems, but given that Off The Grid launched on PS5 and Xbox consoles, and Moonray is planning to do the same, we could see it come out on any of the two, if not both. Last month, the ChronoForge developer was approved as Nintendo Switch publisher, so that could be another option for this game.

In any case, the new roadmap announcement thread ended off with a first look at this upcoming sci-fi title. The developers provided a quick 16-second sneak peek video showing some action-packed gameplay coupled with some stylish visuals. There are lots of effects flashing about, and from what I can tell, this seems to be a single-player or co-op mission where you’re using your ship in third-person view to blast away at the head of a giant boss. There is no sound in the video, but there seems to be an NPC icon in the top right showing someone communicating to the player. It looks like the player is using the ship’s ultimate ability, next to which there are 4 other abilities you can activate. One slot is empty in this case though, so I guess it will be possible to customize your ship with different abilities. For some reasons there is a warning display timer counting down, possibly for the end of the mission or something else.

Overall, it’s a nice little sneak peek. Hopefully we’ll get to see more gameplay footage in the months leading up to launch. Fans of Space Nation Online and space shooters such as StarHeroes may want to keep an eye out on this one for more similar space action backed by blockchain technology.
