Sorare, a fantasy sports platform, has recently shared new product updates to keep its community up to date on the development regarding a new daily game mode and card rebranding.
In an effort to provide a better user experience, the developers are upgrading the platform in various ways. One of these upgrades includes launching a new Sorare website, which comes with a new game mode called Rivals.
Rivals is a new daily game mode in which you’ll get to set up lineups and tactics for certain matches to compete against friends “and rivals.” Other than that, and a bit of info stating that “your reputation is on the line,” those are all the details that the developers can share for now regarding the gameplay of the new mode itself. The mode will be available across the whole platform, with the developers saying that they’re “working hard” on creating the NBA version.
Initially teased back in a July Football product update as “Kick-off,” the mode is currently being tested in closed beta amongst a select small group of varied managers. The team plans to continue staying in this phase in order to continue to gather valuable feedback, with the latest product update teasing the community to look out for “opportunities to get exclusive access to the closed beta as we look to collect feedback from our wider community.”
NFT cards (Limited, Rare, Super Rare, and Unique Cards), previously referred to as “Scarcity Cards” or “Blockchain Cards,” are getting rebranded to “Pro Cards.” The change is being made due to the other terms being “difficult to understand,” particularly for new players, with the developers also wanting something “that more accurately mirrors our Manager progression structure.” As such, you’ll be seeing the non-Common Cards scarcity category named as “Pro Cards” from now on. Aside from the naming, everything else seems to remain as is: Common Cards stay as free non-tradable cards, while Pro Cards are the NFTs that you can win and trade.
In line with this card rebrand, and due to new game modes, the developers are renaming the current twice-weekly game mode competitions to Sorare Pro. This also means that 3 “Pro” football competitons are getting renamed for clarity: Semi-Pro is now “Kick-Off,” Pro is now “Specialist” and Rare Pro is now referred to as “Rare Plus.” Current MLB “Pro” competitions will however stay the same during the 2023 season.
