Sorare Adds Austrian Bundesliga to Fantasy Football Game

Fantasy football game Sorare has signed an agreement with the Austrian football association, adding the Austrian Bundesliga to the NFT-powered blockchain game. The third complete European league after the Belgian and Dutch league, adds 12 new clubs to the popular sports platform.

With the addition of the Austrian bundesliga, Sorare players gain access to some big names in European football. In the 90s Rapid Wien was a force to be reckoned with, while Red Ball Salzburg became a powerhouse with upcoming superstars. At the same time clubs like LASK and Sturm Graz have had their moments on the European stage as well.

Sorare's users have access to the new cards with immediate effect. Players can now purchase new, first-edition cards on the market where these cards are sold through auctions. We expect that youngster from Salzburg and other players active in European club competitions will be extra in demand.

Earlier this week I wrote an article about the future of Sorare. Personally I am very bullish on this fantasy football game. Their recent migration to a layer-2 solution, will only benefit the product as a whole.

How to play Sorare

You can play Sorare for free, but that takes away lots of the excitement to be fair. You need to purchase collectible player cards, and the players on these cards will become your team. Each game week you select the players, each represented by an NFT card, of which you think they will perform best.

For every game week managers will need to select a team from the player card collection. They will need one goalkeeper, one defender, one midfielder, one attacker and an extra field player. Players earn points based on the real-life performance of those players. Therefore players that play regularly, are active in winning team, hardly make mistakes, and score a lot of goals, are generally valuable. Each card can only be used once during a game week, but if you have enough cards you can join in multiple leagues.
