Sony's blockchain arm, Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL), has officially launched "Soneium For All," a new web3 incubator program aimed at helping game and consumer app developers build and grow within the Soneium ecosystem. Backed by the Sony Innovation Fund in partnership with Astar Network and Startale Cloud Services, the program marks a major step in expanding the reach of web3 through Soneium.
Soneium, an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain, is gaining traction as a creator-first platform. According to the team, the network now boasts over 7 million users, handles more than 1.5 million daily transactions, and manages over $215 million in TVL. It's already home to projects using well-known IP like Solo Leveling, Seven Deadly Sins, Ghost in the Shell, and Sony's own robot dog, aibo.
With that, Soneium is now moving to attract new talent and innovation through its incubator. The goal is clear: to position Soneium as the top entertainment blockchain for games and digital experiences.
"Soneium For All" is built to support developers who want to create exciting blockchain-based applications. The incubator addresses three of the biggest hurdles faced by web3 startups: gaining users, scaling technology, and getting noticed in a crowded market.
Projects selected will launch as early as Q3 2025. Builders will receive broad exposure through Soneium's official channels, including livestreams, blog coverage, and marketing events. This kind of visibility is often hard to secure for early-stage web3 teams.
What's more, projects won't start from zero. Developers will build on a tested, production-ready chain that already supports millions of users and major brands.
A key advantage of this incubator is the backing of the Sony Innovation Fund. Teams that make it into the program will gain access to one-on-one mentorship, strategic advice, and potential follow-up funding.
"This initiative reflects our vision to empower creators globally through blockchain technology," said Ryohei Suzuki, director of Sony Block Solutions Labs. "By lowering the barriers to entry for developers and helping them reach users faster, Soneium For All brings us closer to a more open, creator-powered internet."
The incubator also offers technical and financial support thanks to its partnerships with Astar Network and Startale Cloud Services. There's a $60,000 grant pool for projects that integrate ASTR, Astar's native token, as a payment method or utility.
Maarten Henskens, Head of the Astar Foundation, added, "As part of our efforts under Astar Evolution, and following the success of the Astar Contribution Score Campaign on Soneium, joining the 'Soneium For All' incubator is a natural next step. With over 40 projects already integrating ASTR on Soneium, we're committed to support developers building innovative gaming and consumer dApps that expand ASTR's utility and solidify its role as a core asset in the Soneium ecosystem."
Applications for the program opened on June 9 and will remain open through the end of the month. Winning projects will be selected in late July, with deployments beginning shortly after.

Soneium is not just planning for future success; it is already home to some major game projects.
Sleepagotchi Lite, originally popular on Telegram with over a million users, recently launched as a LINE mini-app built on Soneium. This version allows easy sign-in using LINE or Telegram accounts and accepts on-chain payments using USDC or ASTR. It taps into LINE’s massive user base of over 200 million people.
Also making headlines is SYMBIOGENESIS, a flagship web3 RPG from Square Enix. The game joined Soneium on May 8, and has already launched cross-game experiences. Players who completed Chapters 1–4 by the end of May received special NFTs that unlock rewards in other Soneium games like Evermoon and Sleepagotchi. These include gameplay boosts, exclusive cosmetic items, and early access to new features.
With "Soneium For All," Sony is taking a major step toward building a more vibrant and accessible web3 ecosystem. The program offers practical tools, from technical support to funding and exposure, to help projects get off the ground.
