Somnia Gaming Week is officially live, bringing with it eight web3 titles, a total prize pool of over $10,000, and a full week of competitive play. Running from August 2 until August 9, the event is hosted on the Somnia Network and features a mix of live and upcoming game contests. Players can join in from anywhere, with games available across browser, mobile, and Steam.

Each game will get a dedicated highlight day with a community event on the Somnia Discord at 1 pm UTC. But all games remain playable during the entire week, and leaderboard entries are being tracked until the final hour of the event.

What to Expect During Somnia Gaming Week

The event allows players to explore 8 blockchain games that range from card battles to naval warfare. Leaderboards have opened across multiple titles, including Hive Invasion, Maelstrom, Variance, Lucky Adventure Gambit, and Pool Legend. Those who join now will still have time to climb the rankings, earn in-game loot, and win USDC prizes before the event ends on August 9 at midnight UTC.

Five Games Already Live with Prizes up for Grabs

Hive Invasion by Pixcape Games kicked off Day 1 of Somnia Gaming Week. It's a browser-based pixel MMORPG where Echo-9 units take on AI-driven enemies in a dystopian setting. The total prize pool is $1400 for the top five players. Additional Signal Dust rewards will be awarded to ranks up to the 50th place.

Variance, the anime roguelike RPG by Realm Studios, started its leaderboard contest on August 3. Players control Ella in this action-heavy platformer with gacha-style elements and a vibrant world. The total prize pool is $1850, spread across the top ten spots, with extra lootboxes and golden tickets going to the top 100 performers (Update: The prize pool has been increased to $3250). 

Maelstrom, the naval battle royale by Uprising Labs, is live on Steam. Players control warships across stormy seas while fighting other players and mythical sea creatures. Its leaderboard will reward the top 10 players with a share of the $1850 prize pool.

Lucky Adventure Gambit (LAG) lets players crawl through dungeons and collect loot while battling monsters and other adventurers. The event leaderboard rewards players based on Event Points collected from monsters. With 100 reward slots and a prize pool of $1105, LAG is one of the more accessible contests in the lineup.

Pool Legend, a blockchain-enabled 8-ball pool game, is also live. Players can join matches through mobile or browser and compete for a $1000 prize pool. Top ten players will be rewarded, and the game is available to download via App Store or Google Play.

Games Yet to Launch This Week

Dark Table CCG is expected to go live today. This dark fantasy card game takes a 4-player approach to classic CCG mechanics. Set in a Lovecraft-inspired world, players compete for power using strategic card plays. With a $1400 prize pool, the top five leaderboard spots will receive USDC rewards (Update: DT is not able to join SGW, so the prize pool is allocated to Variance). 

QRusader, a QR code-based roguelike, introduces a fresh twist to action RPG gameplay. Players unlock new levels by scanning QR codes and completing timed runs. The leaderboard operates via the QRusaders Discord, where daily and weekly winners will receive a combined $1000 prize pool plus NFTs and in-game items.

Masks of the Void, launching on Day 6, is a roguelite ARPG with wave-based battles powered by magical masks. Built by Uprising Labs, the game rewards the top five players based on both individual run scores and accumulated weekly scores. Total prize pool stands at $1400, and Uprising Genesis NFTs will also be awarded to top cumulative scorers.

A Play to Earn Event with Real Prizes

Across all 8 games, leaderboard contests are live or soon to open, offering prizes in USDC, lootboxes, NFTs, and other in-game rewards. The full $10K+ prize pool is being distributed throughout the week, and all leaderboards will close at the same time when the event wraps up on August 9.

Each game offers a different style of gameplay, from turn-based dungeon crawling to fast-paced roguelike runs. Most of them are browser-based or mobile-ready, so players can jump in without any complex setup. QRusader is the only one requiring QR codes to unlock gameplay, adding an extra layer of creativity.

Powered by Somnia's Web3 Ecosystem

Somnia Gaming Week is hosted on the Somnia Network, an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain built specifically for entertainment and gaming. Known for its fast speeds and low fees, Somnia is rapidly gaining attention in the web3 space.

Just last month, Somnia announced a new partnership with Google Cloud during EthCC8 in Cannes. As part of this deal, Google Cloud now acts as a validator for the network. It's also providing AI and security tools to help power smart agents, game bots, and AI-driven NPCs across future Somnia titles.

The partnership allows builders to use Google Cloud's full infrastructure, including real-time data tracking via BigQuery, blockchain streaming through Pub/Sub, and AI agent tools like ADK and A2A. These tools are set to unlock more immersive and secure experiences for players, while helping creators build more complex and reactive games.

Somnia's Founder Paul Thomas explained that this partnership is a step toward building an onchain internet powered by agentic gameplay. Developers can soon access integrated tools to create smart NPCs, market bots, and real-time interactive environments using the Somnia chain.
