Sleepagotchi Lite has now launched on Sony's Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain, Soneium. It is available through the Line Mini app, making it easy for the platform's 200 million users to join in. This move follows the game's earlier success, where it attracted more than two million players on Telegram.
The launch was made possible by Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL) and Startale Group. It marks a big step for Soneium, which is becoming a growing hub for blockchain apps.
"Soneium's focus on creativity, immersion, and accessibility makes it the ideal partner to team up with the Line Mini app and Sleepagotchi, both of which share a similar vision," said Jun Watanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs. "We're thrilled to help bring Sleepagotchi to a massive new audience of over 200 million people — all with seamless, onchain onboarding to unlock the full potential of web3."
A New Version Without Sleep Tracking
Sleepagotchi Lite removes the sleep tracking part of the original game. Instead, it lets users play and earn points during the day. These points will later carry over to the full 2.0 release of the app.
The game still keeps many fan-favorite features like collectible cards, battle elements, and a cute, Japanese-inspired look. It's now easier to start playing, with login options through Line or Telegram, either on mobile or web. Users can also pay with USDC or ASTR tokens using the Soneium chain, helping newcomers try out blockchain tools with ease.
"Sleep is the most important health habit, even more essential than exercise or diet," said Anton Kraminkin, CEO of Sleepagotchi. "Japan consistently gets the least sleep in the world, which is why it became the heart of our early community. Sleepagotchi is deeply inspired by Japanese culture — from its kawaii art style and gacha mechanics to JRPG elements. Our new mini-app, Sleepagotchi Lite, is designed to grow that community even further. It features the same beloved IP but without the sleep mechanics, making it a fun and accessible entry point. After becoming a Top 5 grossing app on Telegram, we're excited to bring the Sleepagotchi universe to Soneium and Line, where over 200 million people connect every day."
Soneium's Growing Role in Web3 Gaming
Sony says that more than 100 apps have already launched on Soneium. These apps include many types of games and digital tools. The network is now processing between one and 1.5 million transactions each day.
The blockchain has also reached more than seven million wallet addresses and holds over $200 million in TVL.
As such, the partnership with Sleepagotchi fits into Sony's broader plan to make blockchain easier and more fun for everyday users.

Ongoing Beta Testing for Sleepagotchi
Sleepagotchi Lite's debut also lines up with the next phase of the game's Closed Beta Test. Stage 2 of the beta opened just a week ago, giving select players access to the game on Android and iOS through Telegram.
To join the beta, users must fill out a form with basic details. Those selected may earn rewards later when the full game goes live. Testers can also win hero card packs through a Gacha Giveaway if they rank in the top 200 on the Lite version.
Players are asked to play regularly, give feedback, and report any bugs. All progress will be reset at the end of the beta, but testers will be rewarded with special perks in the future.
What's Next: Token Launch and Square Enix Event
In a recent AMA, Sleepagotchi's team shared updates about the upcoming token generation event (TGE). The team said rewards will be given to testers and the broader community once the TGE goes live. There is no official date yet, but it is "getting close."
There's also a special partnership with Square Enix. Players who finish Chapter 4 of Symbiogenesis can enter a raffle to win a White Dragon NFT and a rare card for use in Sleepagotchi Lite.
The team also ran a campaign offering users $50 per hour to sleep and test the app. Perks included company merch and a gift card, though the form for this event has now closed.
