After recently introducing the METAL points system in partnership with Moku, the Shrapnel team has now announced that it is set to officially launch weapon skin crafting and the first version of the marketplace on Thursday, May 23rd, together with the start of the STX3 playtesting event for their Web3 extraction FPS.
Players will be able to create various different weapon skins referred to as “Craftable skins” using certain weapon skin fragments. By playing the game during the STX3 event, you can collect these fragments from crates and similar lootable objects as well as trade them with other players on the marketplace. To craft a skin, you will need 3 unique fragments that fit the skin and weapon type in question. In case you can’t get a specific fragment, you will be able to use a Wildcard Weapon Skin Fragment to fill in the missing one. Next to buying Wildcards from the marketplace, you’ll also be able to extract them from the game as well.
Once you have the right set of weapon skin fragments specific to the skin you’d like to craft, you can then begin the in-game process, which will result in burning the used fragments.
As time goes on, the developers will work in expanding this system by retiring old weapon skin fragments and bringing in new ones. This means that you have a limited amount of time to craft upcoming skins.
Extracting safely with the looted skin fragments and wildcards might not end up being an easy task, so to make sure you’re able to walk away with some of the goodies during gameplay, the studio is introducing the Secure Pouch, which lets you store up to 3 items that you will receive even if you die or fail to extract.
Next to having the necessary items to successfully craft your desired skin, there will also be a crafting fee in place, varying based on rarity: Common (5 $SHRAP), Rare (10 $SHRAP), Epic (20 $SHRAP) and Legendary ($50 SHRAP).
For STX3, you can look forward to 4 Common, 15 Rare and 3 Epic skins:
The first version of the game’s marketplace will allow players to trade weapon skins and weapon skin fragments by signing in with a valid player account. You’ll be able to set up listings that expire after 3 days while using various filters to help you get the specific search results you’re looking for. For each item you’ll be able to see its rarity, supply, transaction history and ownership history.
When it comes to fees, there are no listing fees, but a 5% transaction fee is in place for each purchase.
