The 5th season of Seraph: In the Darkness is going live next week on December 18 at 03:00 UTC, and it's bringing several major updates to how you play and earn. With Chaos Dungeons back in focus, updated reward pools, and a free starter pack for all new accounts, the game is shifting gears after a content-heavy Season 4.
While certain features like Void Realm token rewards aren't returning this time, the season puts more weight on Chaos Dungeon farming, Soul Spar burns, and weekly Ladder rankings as the main ways to earn $SERAPH. A fresh round of token pools and reward systems is now in place, and anyone joining Season 5 can claim a free pack that includes the Season Pass, Stall License, and an Advanced Level-Up Item.
Chaos Dungeon: Weekly Settlements and Feather Burn Returns
This season, the Chaos Dungeon is once again the core of the game's play to earn structure. Every time you complete a dungeon run, no matter the difficulty, you'll automatically get 5 $SERAPH tokens as a base reward.
Along with that, each run contributes to a shared weekly token pool. To get a share of that pool, you'll need to collect Unformed Seraph Feathers, which drop from Chaos Dungeon treasure chests. These feathers act like stake shares. The more you have at the time of the weekly settlement, the more $SERAPH you get. After each settlement, all feathers are burned, and the cycle starts again.
Soul Spar Burn Pool Set at 100,000 $SERAPH
Soul Spars are also getting their own reward pool this season. Instead of spending them across the season, you'll be saving them up. At the end of Season 5, you can pack your Soul Spars into Soul Spar Bundles and move them into the Chaos Stash.
Once the season ends and the servers shut down, all Soul Spars will be burned within 7 days, and a dedicated 100,000 $SERAPH reward pool will be split among players based on how many they contributed. This delayed settlement means players who save and burn the most Soul Spars will get the biggest cut.
Weekly Ladder Rewards and Season-End Bonus Pool
The Ladder system is getting more important this season. Every week, 25% of the total Chaos Dungeon reward pool will go toward weekly Ladder rewards. This is a separate reward pool and doesn't reduce the dungeon rewards.
The top 10 ranks will receive the highest shares, with Rank 1 earning 5.5% of the weekly pool. If you rank between 11 and 20, you'll still get something, with a fixed 0.2% share each.
At the end of Week 5, there's also a seasonal bonus. An extra 100,000 $SERAPH will be awarded to players based on their final class rankings, giving long-term players a big incentive to climb the Ladder consistently.
Free 3-Item Bundle for New Accounts
Anyone activating a new account during Season 5 will receive a free starter pack with 3 premium items: the Season Pass, a Stall License, and an Advanced Level-Up Item. These will be sent via in-game mail and can only be claimed once per account, by the first character created.
This welcome bundle gives new players the key tools to get started right away, including access to trading and progression boosts that normally require payment.
What's Different From Season 4?
Season 4 ran from October 20 to November 24 and featured one of the game's biggest updates to date. That patch introduced Guild GvG battles, Abyssal Treasures, the Void Realm Descent system, and the seasonal Demon Wings cosmetic.
It also had a massive 800,000 $SERAPH prize pool tied to the Ladder system, along with shared pools based on Chaos Stone usage and treasure hunting. This allowed players to benefit from collective gameplay activity, especially through the new Abyssal Treasure feature.
In contrast, Season 5 focuses more on individual contributions. There's no reward pool tied to the Void Realm this time, and all attention is now on direct performance in Chaos Dungeons, Soul Spar burns, and weekly class rankings.
What Is Seraph?
Seraph: In the Darkness is a dark fantasy action RPG that runs on the BNB Chain. It's free to play on PC and available via Android APK, offering players a fast-paced isometric experience where you fight monsters, explore dungeons, and level up your hero using loot and skill trees.
You start by choosing 1 of 5 unique classes: Barbarian, Valkyrie, Sorceress, Necromancer, or Druid, each with its own combat style and special abilities. As you play, you'll earn and upgrade equipment, including onchain NFT gear called Chaos Equipment, which can be traded through the in-game marketplace.
How the Game Economy Works
Seraph's game systems are built around Soul Spars, which act as a key in-game currency. You get them mostly from Void Realm dungeons, where the amount you get depends on your level, gear quality, and the type of map you run.
Soul Spars are used to upgrade gear, unlock dungeon entries like Mystery of Chaos, and even bundled into NFT Soul Boxes for trading. Players with NFT gear have a higher earning rate and access to exclusive dungeons.
That said, Void Realm rewards don't seem to include any $SERAPH token payouts this season. While it's still a core source for items and Soul Spars, it doesn't directly impact Season 5's token economy.
Key Dungeon Modes in Seraph
There are 3 main dungeon types in Seraph, each with its own mechanics:
- Void Realm: Open to all players and great for farming Soul Spars, loot, and materials. Requires stamina and map tickets.
- Mystery of Chaos: Only available to players with NFT equipment. Here, you can earn Treasure Chests filled with items, cosmetics, and onchain rewards.
- Trial of Seraph: A ranking-based dungeon that tracks how fast and how far you can go. This is the main mode tied to class Ladder rewards.
All three dungeons connect to how you earn, progress, and compete in the game.
$SERAPH Token: How It Fits In
$SERAPH is the game's main token and is used for things like unlocking new content, reforging gear affixes, and taking part in events. It launched earlier this year and is already listed on platforms like Bybit, KuCoin, and MEXC.
You can store and use $SERAPH on both BNB Chain and Ethereum, with wallet support including Binance Wallet and OKX Wallet.
In Season 5, you'll get $SERAPH mostly by playing through Chaos Dungeons, placing high in the Ladder, and burning Soul Spars at the end of the season.
What to Focus On This Season
Season 5 leans heavily into consistent effort and steady progress. If you're looking to earn $SERAPH, your best bet is to keep running Chaos Dungeons every week to build up both fixed rewards and your share of the server-wide pool. Saving Soul Spars for the end-of-season burn can also lead to a solid payout. For those aiming higher, climbing the class Ladder rankings each week is another way to secure a larger piece of the token rewards.
