Ronin Adds New Consensus Mechanism

Over the past four months, the Ronin Network has been making significant strides to enhance its blockchain platform and better support developers. One of the key changes was the shift to Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) as the consensus mechanism, which allows for faster and more efficient transaction processing.

Ronin has also been actively forming partnerships with game studios and DeFi projects, expanding its ecosystem and attracting more users to its platform. Notably, it recently hosted its first NFT mint by a third party with the popular CyberKongz project, showcasing its versatility and potential for hosting NFT-related activities.

To further support developers, Ronin introduced some exciting new features. One of these is the Ronin VRF (Verifiable Random Function), which generates random values and proofs on the blockchain. This feature can be utilized for various purposes, such as adding random traits to NFTs and creating more diverse and engaging games. 

The Wallet SDK and Remote Procedure Call

The Wallet SDK is another valuable addition for developers, making it seamless to connect their decentralized applications (dApps) to Ronin users. This Javascript SDK streamlines the integration process, eliminating the need for manual updates and offering flexibility for future upgrades. Early tests by developers have been promising, and Ronin is eager to make it accessible for all developers to use.

Additionally, Ronin's RPC (Remote Procedure Call) Services is crucial in facilitating interactions with the blockchain without requiring developers to run a full node. This service has already processed over $4 billion in transactions and supports various games and validator/delegator activities. It offers an HTTP-RPC endpoint, enabling developers to utilize on-chain data in their games, while WebSockets provide real-time updates, making the platform more responsive and user-friendly.

Sky Mavis, the team behind Ronin, has also revamped the developer documentation with a fresh new look, updated content, and additional features. The comprehensive docs cover essential topics such as API keys, NFT contract steps, and the new RPC services, simplifying the process for developers to integrate with Ronin. Furthermore, the use of Docusaurus and Diataxis enhances organization and accessibility, making it easier for builders to leverage the platform effectively.
