Ever so slowly, the world of Mirandus starts to take shape. The Mirandus team held an initial tech test for their Tavern Games in late 2022, and now they're ready to bring a more full playtest to the players in early March 2023.
This Mirandus playtest is for the Tavern Games, a set of in-game mini-games to entertain players. For this test, we have Three-Eyed Snake, a dice rolling and betting game.
This playtest is open to everyone with a Gala Games account, which is free to create and does not have any KYC requirements.
Players need copper coins to play Three-Eyed Snake, and so every player will receive 30 copper coins every six hours. Players should also receive bonuses to their basic copper coin income based on NFT and MTRM holdings in their wallet. At the end of the playtest, the top 10 players who have accumulated the most copper coins will be able to claim a first edition Tavern Tankard!
The playtest begins on March 2nd at 10am PT, and runs for a week until March 9th, 10pm PT.
As part of the tech updates for this test, the dice rolling actually uses the Unity physics engine rather than a static animation. Pretty cool!
When the game launches, players will be able to engage in these Tavern Games at their local establishment, engaging with other players whose characters are in the same tavern!
In addition to this test of the Tavern Games, a larger Mirandus playtest should arrive soon as well, potentially later in March or April.
In development since 2020, Mirandus is an fantasy MMO by Gala Games . Built with Unity, Mirandus is a first-person, open-world, fantasy MMO where players own everything. From the clothing on their backs to the shops in towns, to the towns themselves! Mirandus features a complex, interconnected economy where players take the roles of blacksmiths, hunters, and tavern keepers in addition to adventure seekers.
Adventurers will need food, armor repairs, and some potions before they go on their next adventure. The blacksmith needs wood from the woodcutter, while the butcher needs meat from the farmer. There are many production lines and players can enjoy being a farmer, an adventurer, a trader, or even a bard!
Players with land plots choose where to place it on the map. Close to a dungeon for more foot traffic? Or near a river for farming and trade? Or perhaps in a mountain pass to levy taxes on anyone who wants to pass through! When the game launches, there will be five citadels, the biggest cities in the game world. These give the owner the right to create and lead their own faction, charge taxes on trade, and so on.
