Coinbase-backed gaming platform and AI-based game engine Remix is collaborating with VeeFriends on a new game jam that features $5000 USDC up for grabs between creators of the best themed submissions. Submissions open this Friday, October 24 at 12 PM EST, and anyone interested has until Tuesday, November 4, 12 PM EST to make the best game they can using AI.

What Is Remix?

Remix, previously known as Farcade, is an AI-powered gaming platform built on the Base network that lets anyone create games simply by writing prompts. No coding skills or prior experience with game engines are required, and the platform already features over 800 games and more than 500k players who have collectively logged over 18 million plays.

The project is backed by Coinbase and Planetarium, and has quickly grown into the most popular gaming app on Farcaster and World App, and it is also accessible through the Base Wallet, Telegram, and iOS via the Apple App Store. A standalone app is currently in development.

Creating games in Remix only requires typing instructions in plain English. Future updates will introduce features such as template-based “Remixing” to make development even easier. Early creators may also qualify for a potential future token airdrop. Even if you do not win rewards from official game jam contests, you can still participate in Remix’s ecosystem, which offers opportunities to unlock prizes by being an active creator and gamer. Here is what’s known so far about the latest game jam.

What Is the Remix x VeeFriends Game Jam?

The Remix x VeeFriends Game Jam is a new creative event that invites creators to design games featuring VeeFriends characters while offering a total prize pool of $5000 in USDC to developers of winning creations.

Submissions open on Friday, October 24 at 12 PM EST and close on Tuesday, November 4 at 12 PM EST. Participants can bring their original and creative VeeFriends-inspired ideas to life using the browser-based Remix Game Studio, where no coding experience is required. The platform provides AI-powered built-in tools to help anyone design and publish their own game in a simple way.

Once a game is approved, it is said to be distributed to more than 750k players worldwide. Games can be played through several platforms, including the newly launched Remix iOS app, Telegram, Farcaster, Base App, and World App.

To qualify for prizes and Remix Points, creators must build a game on Remix.gg using VeeFriends IP resources and publish it before the November 4 deadline. Official resources should go public at the time submissions open. After submissions close, a weekend tournament is planned to take place for selected games, highlighting the best entries from the event.

How to Join Remix x VeeFreinds Game Jam

Anyone can join the Remix x VeeFriends Game Jam for free by creating a VeeFriends-based game using the AI-powered Remix Game Studio, which does not require any programming experience. To get started, log in on the official Remix website, then open the AI game engine through your profile dashboard. Click your profile in the top right corner, select the dashboard, and use the “Create Game” button on the left side to begin.

Though not yet officially confirmed, based on the previous game jam, when your project is ready, you should be able to go to the Details page of your game and choose VeeFriends from the game jam dropdown menu to register your entry.

While detailed info on rules have not yet been revealed, they will likely be similar to the ones present in the Pudgy Penguins $20k Game Jam. This means that games must be based on the VeeFriends IP, and visual assets are provided for use within the Remix platform. Participants probably won’t be able to mix VeeFriends characters with unrelated brands, logos, or fictional universes. All submissions must follow content guidelines, meaning no NSFW, offensive, or harmful material is permitted. Exporting or distributing your game outside of Remix will likely not be allowed unless you have prior approval, as the VeeFriends IP can only be used within the Remix ecosystem. If your game does not include partner IP and is an original creation, you are free to distribute it elsewhere.

The deadline for submission is November 4. If you ever wanted to try your hand at vibe coding a browser game, then perhaps this contest could be the one you need to kickstart your AI-powered game development journey. You can create a simple casual game by entering text prompts into Remix’s AI-powered Game Studio, though programming experience may of course help enhance your entry. For any newcomers, the official tutorial video in the X announcement thread below offers a step-by-step introduction to making games with Remix’s AI tools, and is worth checking out before participating.

Create to Earn in Remix

Remix’s create to earn model allows builders to generate rewards, including potential token airdrops, by developing games with AI-generated prompts.

One of the main ways to earn prizes early on is through game jams such as this current one, but outside of these partnered events, creators can also simply publish games, attract players, and build engagement to improve their eligibility for ongoing and future rewards. The platform’s reward structure combines Remix Points with several tracked performance metrics:

  • Builder Badges
  • Builder Tier
  • Gamer Level
  • Authentic Game Reviews
  • Leaderboard Placements
  • Referrals
  • Discord Roles and Community Engagement
  • Game Achievements
  • Tournament Placement and Friend Challenges
  • Playtime
  • Daily Streak

Badges and Builder XP are earned by creating and updating games, while Gamer Level rises through consistent play, achievements, tournaments, and maintaining daily streaks. High leaderboard placement, active referrals, and participation in the ecosystem community all contribute to increased reward potential.

Playtime is one of the most important metrics, as greater engagement from players translates to higher reward opportunities. Staying active by playing or building daily also helps maintain streak bonuses and ensures continued progress.

The more you contribute to the Remix ecosystem as a creator, player, or community participant, the stronger your position could be for upcoming reward programs.

While no official TGE date has been announced yet, anyone can start building on Remix for free through the official website. The platform requires no downloads and runs entirely in your browser.

Back in August, Remix introduced Snap Apps to World App and partnered with Worldcoin for a $5000 creator contest.
