Register for the Open Beta of Undeads Metaverse’s Flagship Battle Royale for a Chance at Winning From a $10K Reward Pool

The studio behind Undeads Metaverse, a gaming ecosystem that currently consists of a cross-platform online survival racing title and a social game, is set to officially have its flagship game launch into open beta on Steam this Saturday, August 10th at 12 PM GMT.

Open Beta Details

Titled simply as Undeads on Valve’s platform, the community can now wishlist the upcoming top-down survival shooter on Steam ahead of what is actually an invite-only beta phase. Anyone can however easily sign up for a chance at gaining an invitation code by using the link found in this official tweet.

Invitations are sent out in waves, and if you do end up getting invited to this release, you stand a chance of being among the 100 beta testers to win a share of a $10k reward pool. While exact reward distribution details have not been revealed at the time of writing, what is known is that each of the randomly selected beta testers will be equally awarded $100. The registration form asks for your email used for Steam, as well as your year of birth, country, and favorite genres, so it’s a rather straightforward form to fill. Once you’re done, you’ll be given a QR code to an exclusive beta testing Telegram group, which has over 700 members at the time of writing and helps you stay up to date with the latest developments.

An official release date for the full version of the game is yet to be announced, though based on the roadmap, there is a chance that v1.0 goes live by the end of this year, so if you’d like to play earlier and help provide constructive feedback ahead of the full launch, then now is probably the time to jump in and start testing the game’s features. Let’s find out more about what you can likely expect to experience once the beta goes live this weekend.

Features

The flagship title is a survival battle royale featuring PvP and PvE top-down shooter gameplay. According to the official Steam page, players get to choose from "hundreds" of different characters from a variety of factions, with each character said to have unique abilities to use in surviving this zombie world. Actually, it looks like you’ll be able to play as zombies as well, so you can choose whether you’d like to try and survive or focus on hunting other players instead. This also means that there are different types of undead – while humans range from farmers and engineers to scavengers and bandits, the world of the undead features ghouls, zombie cyborgs, zombie samurai, plague bearers, and more.

Each match has you randomly spawn across abandoned environments through which you’ll have to scavenge for food, water, weapons, ammo, and more, including items of higher value to sell alongside any useless junk to the in-game merchant. The merchant represents the in-game store through which you can buy new characters, ammo, weapons, and armor pieces, and you can look forward to seeing seasonal and unique offers rotate over time.

To get to this merchant with your items though, you’ll have to survive the match in order to store your collected goods in your safe warehouse, which you will be able to expand to unlock more space. That being said, your character also has a limited amount of space, requiring you to carefully decide what to carry with you during a match. Weapons and armor also have durability, meaning that they can break after being used for a certain period of time, requiring you to keep an eye on that indicator as well to avoid any bad surprises.

Players earn in-game currency at the end of each match, which can be used to purchase various items at the in-game store. While this Steam release obviously won’t have any Web3 features, you can eventually look forward to the ecosystem having a blockchain-powered player-driven economy where players can craft items and equipment as NFTs to enable item trading and asset ownership, while utilizing various other features that include NFT staking, earning fees as a landholder, and more.

In November last year, the developers launched Undeads Rush, a survival racing game in which players can play and earn game points to top the leaderboards and earn $UDS tokens.
