Registrations can be done on the tournament page of the game’s official website, where you can connect your wallet holding the Gotchi NFTs and sign up by clicking on the tournament you’d like to join and pressing the “Create Team” button to start setting things up. You can form a team of 5 Gotchis that are optionally backed by 1 or 2 substitutes. One of your Gotchis has to be assigned as the team leader as well, while setting up the formation you want before saving your team to confirm the lineup. You don’t need to cover any transaction fees, as this Polygon-powered game uses only wallet signatures to make sure you own the assets you’re using to create teams with, according to the official FAQ.
If you don’t have enough Gotchis, you can use the lending section of the tournament page you’re in to rent Gotchis from other players using $GHST tokens. This also gives owners of many Gotchis an opportunity to passively earn from the NFTs they’re not using. There are currently rental prices for as low as 0.2 $GHST. Attempting to rent any Gotchi from there will take you to the official Aavegotchi dApp, which also has its own official marketplace from which you can purchase these interoperable NFTs instead. The cheapest listing is 99 $GHST at the time of writing.
The game’s meta has changed thanks to a recent v1.7 update, according to the announcement, making this a great time to jump in and attempt to compete for rewards, even if you’re new to this NFT-based title.
That being said, let’s take a look at the new features this update brings to Season 9.

What’s New in Rarity Farming Season 9?
Next to play to earn opportunities, this season marks the release of the Item Shop and a Simulator Tool, alongside balancing tweaks and quality of life improvements.
The Item Shop lets you buy single-use consumables that boost a certain stat. These are off-chain assets that can be purchased with $GHST. There are 9 different types of items, each buffing a specific attribute: Health, Armor, Speed, Critical, Evade, Resist, Magic, Physical, and Accuracy.
All types of items come in 3 different rarities: Common, Rare, and Mythical. The rarer the item, the stronger the buff! During the Preparation Phase of any tournament, you have the option to apply these items to individual Gotchis, boosting their stats for the next round while consuming the item in the process. The effects of the item are removed after the battle is over. Before using them in tournaments, you can try out items in the training and simulator modes for free and for as many times as you want.
The new Simulator Tool lets you use real or training Gotchis to create two teams that fight against each other, helping you find out the strongest lineup to use in competitions. You can even search for Gotchis used by your opponents and practice against their teams to see how well you stack up. You can even duplicate matchups and choose the number of simulations to run, all without needing to sign any transactions! This is a fantastic new feature for both newcomers and veterans, as it makes it easier for everyone to experiment with all sorts of teams and items, helping you decide which items to purchase and which Gotchis to buy/rent.

In terms of quality of life enhancements, you can now sign in to your profile after connecting to the app in order to save teams that you’d like to use in the future. This also allows you to view your inventory, which is where purchased items are stored. Last but not least, if you wanr to have your accomplishments marked on your profile, then you can look forward to seeing badges and achievements added there soon.
