RavenQuest is officially launching on the Epic Games Store on August 15. The same day marks the release of its first major expansion, Treasures Below, which introduces new gameplay systems, fresh content, and wider visibility for the free to play blockchain title.

This dual rollout is a major step forward for developer Tavernlight Games. The Epic Games launch makes RavenQuest the first web3 MMORPG to be featured in Epic's First Run program, placing it in front of a global audience of over 295 million users.

What Is RavenQuest?

RavenQuest is a sandbox-style MMORPG powered by Immutable zkEVM. It's based on the studio's previous web2 project Ravendawn, which grew a loyal player base of over 200,000 monthly players. The new web3 version launched earlier this year in March for Windows PCs, with mobile still in the works.

Players build pixel-style heroes and explore a large top-down fantasy world. Gameplay includes gathering resources, crafting gear, building homes, and real-time PvP and PvE combat. Character freedom is a key part of the design. RavenQuest's flexible class system lets players combine archetypes freely, with more than 120 unique class setups now possible thanks to the latest expansion.

Epic Games Store Launch

RavenQuest's arrival on the Epic Store marks a big moment for the game. It opens the doors for millions of new users to jump in with one click. Players who already have accounts can switch to the Epic launcher without needing to start over. All progress and purchases will carry over.

The game runs on Windows 10 and higher, with just 4GB RAM required. The download is free, and there are no platform-specific fees. New players will need to make an account through the official site before playing.

Expeditions are coming to RavenQuest

Treasures Below Expansion Launches Simultaneously

Launching alongside the Epic Games release, Treasures Below is the first major expansion to hit the live servers. It's packed with features aimed at all types of players, from hardcore PvP veterans to casual explorers and seasonal event grinders.

At the core of the update is the new Expeditions system. These instanced roguelike dungeons challenge players with randomized rooms, dynamic difficulty, and a clear risk-to-reward structure. Each run offers the chance to earn rare loot, including the new gemstone equipment upgrades, and ends in a custom boss battle. Choosing tougher afflictions will boost the reward potential.

Gemstones can be socketed into your gear and offer boosted stat bonuses during Expeditions. They also provide a special new stat: Luck, which raises the chance of getting rare Shiny Keys.

New PvP Arena Brings Ranked MMR Combat

Another headline feature is the launch of RavenQuest's Arena system. It offers 2v2 ranked PvP combat with MMR-based matchmaking. Players enter as a duo or queue up solo and get paired with another player. The Arena plays out over three rounds per match, with points awarded for each round won.

No preset builds are forced. Players bring their own builds, gear, and skills. At the end of each season, exclusive rewards go to the top players on the leaderboard, including cosmetics, $QUEST tokens, and coveted titles.

Two New Archetypes = 120 Class Combos

Treasures Below also brings two fresh Archetypes into the game: Ballistics and Naturalist. Both offer new playstyles and add another 60 possible class combos when used in the game's flexible 3-archetype system.

The Ballistics class is coming to RavenQuest

Ballistics is a ranged combat expert that mixes gunpowder weapons and explosives, with grappling hooks and AoE attacks. Naturalist, on the other hand, is a melee spellcaster using life and death magic. It can heal allies or poison enemies and act as a hybrid support/off-healer/DoT caster in group battles.

The Naturalist class is coming to RavenQuest

With these two new additions, the game now supports 120 total class setups. You can switch Archetypes at any time after the intro portion of the game by paying a small fee.

Four New Weapons and Totems

To support the new classes, 4 new weapons are also part of the update. These include:

  • Pistols that can slow enemies.
  • Blunderbuss weapons that deal heavy close-range damage.
  • Bracers that break enemy defenses.
  • Totems designed for Naturalists to boost their damage.

These tools give more depth to combat and offer creative new ways to build your loadout.

Thaw Festival

Thaw Festival: A Limited-Time Seasonal Event

The Thaw Festival also kicks off with the expansion. This seasonal event tells the story of a battle between winter and spring. Adventurers must join the fight to help Kanis, the Warden of Spring, defeat Lashinus, the Champion of Winter.

Players who succeed will get seasonal rewards, including NFT-based cosmetics that grant Renown, RavenQuest's progression system. Renown tracks everything you do in the game, from leveling up and unlocking achievements to collecting rare cosmetics and completing journal entries. The more Renown you have, the more your character stands out in the world and earns respect across the server.

This event is only available until Aug 22, so players will need to act fast to unlock the rewards before they're gone.

$QUEST 2.0 Ecosystem Begins

The update also kicks off the next chapter for RavenQuest's economy with the launch of QUEST 2.0. This upgraded system will add more use cases for $QUEST tokens, with new token sinks and better value for players who hold, stake, or use their earnings in-game.

In a recent livestream, Tavernlight Games CEO Knighter revealed that the team will never sell any of the $QUEST tokens held in the treasury. Instead, they plan to either burn them or return them to the community via gameplay rewards. This commitment sparked a major spike in land prices inside the game, with Small Estates jumping 128% and Large Estates rising over 200% in under two weeks.

RavenQuest Is 100% Free to Play

Even with all these new features and updates, RavenQuest remains completely free to play. Everything in Treasures Below, from Expeditions and Arena PvP to new Archetypes and $QUEST 2.0, is available to all players at no cost.

You can start building your hero and setting up your land now. All progress carries over when the expansion drops tomorrow. Whether you're a web3 native or just looking for your next deep MMORPG to play, RavenQuest offers a full MMO experience with no upfront cost.
