Ragnarok Landverse Genesis, a new version of the long-running Ragnarok Online MMORPG, is set to launch on the Ronin blockchain. Developed by Maxion and published by Gravity, the game keeps the classic 2D anime-inspired world while adding modern features like blockchain-based assets and cross-platform play.
At launch, PC players can access the game, while a mobile version is in development. The goal is to allow seamless gameplay across both platforms, letting players continue their adventures anytime, anywhere.
Pre-Registration and Closed Beta Test
Pre-registrations for Ragnarok Landverse Genesis have already surpassed 395,000. Players can sign up through the official website to secure their spot before the official launch.
A Closed Beta Test (CBT) is scheduled from February 20 to 26, 2025. Players who register early will have a chance to test the game before the full release. The beta will focus on gameplay mechanics, character progression, and server performance. Developers will use this phase to gather feedback and make adjustments before the official launch.
Gameplay Features
The game follows the traditional MMORPG format, where players create a character, explore an open world, complete quests, and engage in battles. While it keeps the original Ragnarok Online feel, some new features have been added.
- Diverse Job Classes – Players can choose from different jobs, including Wizards, who use powerful magic attacks. Each job class has unique abilities and playstyles.
- Guild vs. Guild Battles – The game brings back the War of Emperium, a mode where guilds compete for control over castles. Owning a castle provides in-game benefits and strategic advantages.
- AFK Progression System – A new Automatic System Mode allows characters to fight monsters and collect items even when players are offline. This feature ensures steady progress even for those who cannot play actively.
Developers have confirmed that while blockchain technology is included, it will not change core gameplay. Players can enjoy the traditional RPG experience without interacting with Web3 elements unless they choose to.
Blockchain Integration and Web3 Features
Ragnarok Landverse Genesis runs on Ronin, a blockchain network designed for low-cost and efficient gaming transactions. Players will have the option to own and trade in-game assets as NFTs. These assets include:
- Character Skins – Players can customize their avatars with unique skins that are tradable.
- Item Ownership – Some in-game weapons, armor, and collectibles will be player-owned and transferable.
- Mining and Earning Rewards – Players can mine resources and earn blockchain-based rewards through in-game activities.
However, these blockchain features remain optional. Those who prefer a traditional MMORPG experience can play without engaging with NFTs or the in-game economy.

Partnerships and Development
Ragnarok Landverse Genesis is developed by Maxion in collaboration with Gravity, the original creators of Ragnarok Online. The decision to launch on Ronin comes after the success of a previous version of Ragnarok Landverse on the BNB Chain, which saw over 400,000 players and $18.9 million in revenue.
With Ronin’s backing, the game aims to provide a stable and scalable experience for a large player base. Developers say that existing Ragnarok Landverse players will not be able to transfer their assets immediately, but there are plans to migrate older servers to Ronin in the future.
Upcoming Features and Expansion Plans
While the Closed Beta Test (CBT) will focus on stability and core gameplay, developers have outlined several future updates:
- More PvP Modes – Additional competitive game modes beyond War of Emperium.
- Expanded Quests and Storylines – New missions and adventures added over time.
- Character Customization – More skins and personalization options for avatars.
Developers will share more details about the mobile release, updates, and community events in the coming weeks.
The Closed Beta Test from February 20 to 26 will be the first step in testing how well these features work together before the full launch. More details about mobile expansion and ongoing content updates will follow soon.
