Free to play web3 MMORTS Pulsar is officially going live on mainnet on Friday, October 18th. Before that happens, you still have time until November 1st to buy Genesis Units in the sale that kicked off on September 20th, featuring various NFTs of limited supply to help you in mining the game’s $PLSR token.
While the Avalanche-powered title will still be in the same early access state, the refined $tPLSR you’ve mined throughout testnet will carry over to mainnet, where you will start to mine and refine actual $PLSR tokens in Public Land plots. This means that yes, the mainnet launch of this web3 RTS is actually also the TGE for the $PLSR token. As for the game itself, the developers plan on introducing a newly updated “Hold the Base” demo and tutorial, while revealing a new unit, new unit upgrade previews, and possibly more. Eventually, the team will incorporate an in-game UI Land manager to enable holders of Land plots to play on their own maps.
Shortly after the first mainnet launch, the second mainnet version will follow on November 1st, but more info on that is planned to be unveiled at some point in the future.
Back in July this year, Pulsar achieved over 500 million testnet transactions on its Avalanche subnet, with the mainnet announcement from earlier this month stating that the number is now at more than 620 million. The testnet has been live for more than a year now, and you can still jump right in for free by downloading the web3 game from its official website on Windows PC or Mac. You not only still have a potential chance of securing a portion of testnet rewards, but playing now will help you get to grips with the game mechanics and token extraction. Testnet assets will not carry over though. Instead, a new free common pack will be given for free to play players, and everyone's assets will start from level 1 for a fair launch.
$PLSR is the core token of the Pulsar game economy that players can only earn through gameplay. Players mine Raw Pulsar using specific types of units on Lands and then refine it into actual $PLSR. This token can then be spent on gameplay mechanics, the official marketplace, and in-game shop. Specifically, this means that you can upgrade NFTs, improve units and buildings, skip waiting times, bet on PvP matches, buy NFTs and tokenized resources through the in-game shop or from other players on the marketplace, and more. The tokens you spend go into the treasury, and from there is put back into the game’s economy by burning tokens to turn them into Raw Pulsar for players to mine and refine. Full token flow can be found in the official wiki.
While the tokenomics for $PLSR haven’t actually been officially published yet, an AMA was recently held on September 26th by Pulsar CEO Alvaro Martin and Game Director Fernando Claros in which they discussed tokenomics and Genesis Units. You can find the saved livestream on X here, during which it was mentioned that they have a 36-page document covering tokenomics and the game economy in general. This doesn’t seem to be available to the public at the time of writing, but what they did share on stream was the actual tokenomics of $PLSR, which also looks like it hasn’t been published anywhere yet. That being said, here are the token distribution details that you can see shown live on stream:

*Seed Round and Private Round did not yet close at the time these tokenomics were revealed on stream.
**Token allocation for testnet event is actually higher as the team gave away more $PLSR through a variety of events. The developers will use tokens from the treasury to make sure all rewards are distributed accordingly.
Almost half of the token supply is allocated to “Lands with Pulsar.” Owning Land and making it public for anyone to mine on for free will let you set up taxes for resources and Pulsar mined on your plot. This won't be possible in the first version of mainnet. A limited supply of Lands were distributed a long time ago for very early loyal supporters and haven’t been sold since. Depending on the success of the game, the plan is to put up more Lands for sale when certain player count milestones are reached. This means that if the game ends up getting 50k players on mainnet, a new set of Lands will be put up for sale. By having more Lands minted, the number of $PLSR up for grabs increases, meaning that a good chunk of the supply will actually only unlock if the game ends up being pretty popular. Here’s how token distribution works in that case, according to what was shown in the livestream:
Lands with Pulsar | Allocation | Tokens | |
40% | 400,000,000 | ||
Public Lands | User Acquisition | 1.25% | 5,000,000 |
Player Milestone 1: 50K | Shop | 2.50% | 10,000,000 |
Player Milestone 2: 100K | Shop | 6.24% | 25,000,000 |
Player Milestone 3: 250K | Shop | 12.48% | 50,000,000 |
Player Milestone 4: 500K | Shop | 77.53% | 310,600,000 |
Land prices for reaching player milestones have not been revealed at the time of writing.
Genesis Units and Structures are limited edition NFTs that come with significantly higher stat boosts over regular units. They can be upgraded to become even stronger, so owning them can give you a significant advantage in mining more $PLSR over free to play players. For example, a Genesis Miner can mine Raw Pulsar 700% faster than a Common Miner can, while Genesis Refineries can process 700% more Raw Pulsar a day than Common Refineries, allowing holders of such structures to mint a lot more $PLSR in the same timeframe.
More detailed info on how Genesis assets can enhance your play to earn experience can be found in this official thread. You can still buy them while their highly-limited supply remains before the Pulsar L1 Mainnet goes live on October 18th by heading to the Genesis Drop section of the sci-fi title’s official website linked in this tweet. Based on the game's growth, more Genesis NFTs might become available at some point in the future.
