YGG Play and Pudgy Penguins have unveiled a brand-new Asia-themed map inside LOL Land. The new board, called Pengu Wonderland, was created in partnership with Pengu Asia, the APAC community of Pudgy Penguins. It marks a fresh move by two of Southeast Asia's most active web3 communities: Yield Guild Games (YGG) and Igloo APAC, the regional arm of Igloo Inc., which owns Pudgy Penguins.

Pengu Wonderland is part of LOL Land, a web3 browser game designed for what YGG calls the "Casual Degen." These are players who enjoy short, fun games that run in the background, something light to play while watching the market or chasing the next memecoin.

The new map launched today, August 21, at 3:00 PM SGT, and adds well-known landmarks from across Asia to the game. Some of the sites players can now roll through include Taiwan's Taipei 101, China's Shanghai TV Tower, Vietnam's Ben Thanh Market, Hong Kong's HSBC Building, Malaysia's Petronas Towers, Singapore's Merlion, and a classic jeepney from the Philippines.

Meet the Pengu Wonderland in LOL Land

Cultural Icons Meet Community IP

The visual style of Pengu Wonderland features IP owned by real Pudgy Penguins NFT holders from Asia. Using Igloo's OverpassIP licensing platform, YGG Play licensed 5 Pudgy Penguins and 15 Lil Pudgys to appear in the game. Community members like Brian (#6300), Kinglongwu (#652), and Swam (#2637) now see their NFTs come to life as characters on the board.

"It's been great to see community members from Pengu Asia be featured in LOL Land as their NFTs," said Gabby Dizon, co-founder of YGG. "Games have always been about community, which is why community-owned IP makes so much sense, especially when OverpassIP enables Pudgy Penguins and Lil Pudgy holders to earn when we license their IP. I'm going to be first in line to play the new map!"

The expansion aims to show how game worlds can be shaped by their players. "Pengu Wonderland is a celebration of what makes both our communities special," said Cheryl Law, President of Igloo APAC. "It highlights the richness of Asian culture and our growing cultural footprint in Asia. This collaboration comes at a perfect time as LOL Land's fun and accessible gameplay will help us connect with more players in the web3 gaming space."

For Aaron Teng, CEO of Igloo APAC, the new map is just the beginning. "We are building gaming experiences that move with people across platforms and cities in Asia. Pengu Wonderland is the start of that journey."

LOL Land by YGG Play

LOL Land: The Game and Its Growth

LOL Land launched in May as the first title under YGG Play, the publishing arm of YGG. It runs entirely on Abstract Chain, a blockchain built by Igloo Inc. with support for social logins, passkeys, and fast rollouts. That chain also powers the Pudgy Penguins ecosystem.

The game offers two modes. Free mode lets users play without a wallet but doesn't give out token rewards. Premium mode lets users buy rolls, use NFTs, and earn rewards like $YGG tokens, the native token of Yield Guild Games.

LOL Land plays like a digital board game. Players roll dice, move across themed maps, collect points, and unlock tokens and NFTs. The launch version featured four boards: YGG City, Beach Day, Carnival, and Ice World Wonderland, which included early licensed Pudgy characters.

The game's launch was backed by a $10 million YGG token prize pool funded earlier that month, giving players a strong reason to dive in. This early partnership paved the way for the latest map update. YGG first worked with Pudgy Penguins to bring their characters into the game's winter map back in May. Since then, player engagement has grown sharply. In July 2025, the game drew 631,000 monthly active users and 69,000 daily active users, with paying players spending $434 on average.

Live Launch Event in Bali

To mark the release of Pengu Wonderland, YGG Play and Pengu Asia are hosting a live event during Coinfest Asia 2025 in Bali. The LOL Land Launch Party: Pengu Villa Takeover is a one-night-only experience featuring limited-edition merch, live challenges, surprise reveals, and more.

Only 150 guests are invited to this private event, giving it a VIP feel for those attending the crypto conference. The teams behind LOL Land are using the event to strengthen ties with the local gaming and crypto scenes across the region.

From IP to Gameplay: Powered by Abstract and OverpassIP

One of the tech pieces that makes Pengu Wonderland possible is OverpassIP, a platform built by Igloo Inc. This tool lets NFT holders give permission to license their characters, which games like LOL Land can then use as avatars, assets, or in-world features.

All three (LOL Land, YGG Play, and the Pudgy Penguins collections) run on Abstract Chain. This network was created to help casual players get started in web3 with fewer hurdles. It uses social logins and player-friendly tools so users can focus on the game, not on complex setups.

YGG Play Expands as a Web3 Game Publisher

Earlier this month, YGG Play made another big move by signing its first third-party title, an onchain RPG called Gigaverse. Created by GLHF, the game brings in over $6 million in yearly revenue without investor money or big ad budgets.

As part of this new deal, a Gigaland board was added to LOL Land, and Gigaverse added LOL-themed skins to its game. Both games share the same Abstract Chain, letting players move between the two worlds more easily.
