Web3 game developer Mugen Interactive has opened up pre-registration for the Open Beta Test 2.0 of their blockchain game Last Odyssey while revealing new reward details ahead of its October 16 launch.
What Is Last Odyssey?
Last Odyssey is an AI-powered MMORTS that combines web3 features with standard MMOSLG, 4X strategy gameplay to create what they refer to as a “5X” GameFi title: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate, and eXchange.
The Ronin-powered play to earn title takes place in the isometric fantasy 3D world of Middangeard in which you build your own kingdom, recruit heroes and form your formidable army to destroy any foes standing in your way as you conquer territories and forge alliances.
In development by Mugen Interactive, the creators of Legend of Arcadia, and backed by Animoca Brands, OKX Ventures, and Everest Ventures Group (EVG), Last Odyssey went live as a free to play title on Android and iOS devices via the Google Play Store and TestFlight respectively in April 2025. Players were able to play to airdrop $ODY and NFTs during the first open beta test through gameplay via in-game drops and leaderboards that rewarded both solo efforts and alliances. A TGE date for $ODY and $WAR is not available at the time of writing.
For the second beta test, things look to be changing up quite a bit, based on what’s been announced so far, with focus placed on an entirely new aspect connected to the main game. Let’s see what’s in store for next month.

What’s New in Last Odyssey’s Open Beta Test 2.0?
Open Beta Test 2.0 (OBT 2.0) for Last Odyssey will mark the introduction of a new on-chain meta game map: Sanctuary War.
In Sanctuary War, your goal is to capture Sanctuaries scattered throughout the map of Middangeard in order to earn a variety of crypto rewards, including prizes from partnered projects.
Sanctuaries are strongholds placed throughout the world map around war zones and critical Passes, which are narrow choke points that connect different regions. A total of 96 Sanctuaries are up for the taking, and controlling one “means more than just prestige” as each of these can unlock exclusive rewards and bring “strategic dominance” to your alliance. Holding Sanctuaries is rewarded with varied buffs, Sanctuary Points for alliances, and $ODY rewards. While Passes aren’t as valuable in terms of rewards or buffs, these gateways are still said to have immense strategic value as controlling a Pass “means controlling the movement of your alliances, cutting off enemy advances, and securing vital routes for your own conquests.” This means that you need to capture Passes in order for your alliance to progress onwards to a new region and gain access to “Fortresses, Sanctuaries, and eventually the Throne.”
As you work together with your alliance to seize dominance and thus more rewards, brands can choose to gain visibility in this world map by becoming Sanctuary NFT holders. These ERC-721 assets are designed to grant ownership of a billboard on the live map. On this billboard, you can put in your logo, banner, and social links, and this info can always be visible on this meta game map, regardless of which alliance controls the territory. Next to this persistent visibility, holders also gain access to exclusive holder rewards. There are only 96 unique Sanctuary NFTs, and they cannot be bought or sold, as they can only be gained by forming a partnership with the studio or by winning one through an airdrop. Most of the supply (66.6%) seems to have been reserved as free allocation “for only registered partners and some warlords,” with the rest used for marketing (18.8%) and the reserve (14.6%).
Even if you don’t claim any territory with the Sanctuary NFT, you can still gain access to a basic billboard by capturing a Sanctuary regularly. The basic billboard lets alliance leaders set up their own content and use basic customized settings while gaining “Duration Rewards,” which we’ll talk about in a moment. A basic billboard however is not permanent, as once an enemy takes over your turf, your billboard is gone and replaced with whatever they would like to place. Sanctuary NFT holders however get access to an advanced billboard that stays visible, unlocks full customization options, extra banner ads, image uploads, social media exposure, varied types of rewards for their communities, and exclusive chest rewards every 7 days for locking their asset.

The Universal Reward unlocks when any successful capture of a Sanctuary takes place. Whenever an alliance occupies a Sanctuary, the Universal Reward is shared with all players on the server in the form of a redeem code that anyone can claim to possibly gain useful in-game items.
The Duration Reward is given at the end of the event to the alliance leader that has held each Sanctuary the longest. This prize is only given to the alliance leader and is said to be “prestigious and highly valuable,” with $ODY tokens teased as one of the rewards distributed for this feat.
