Polygon Labs and Immutable have announced the launch of a new "Gaming on Polygon" hub inside Immutable Play. This marks the first time that Immutable has signed an enterprise deal on its gaming platform. The hub will bring 5 web3 games live at the same time, along with fresh tools, player incentives, and a major network upgrade that connects Immutable zkEVM to Polygon's Agglayer.
5 Games Go Live With New Quests and Leaderboards
The new Polygon Hub is designed as a central spot for web3 games that run on both Polygon PoS and Agglayer-powered CDK chains. Players will find curated gaming content, with a focus on experiences that reward community participation and support long-term engagement. As part of the launch, 5 new games will be available on day one. These games will include built-in quests and a leaderboard system aimed at boosting competition and keeping players active.
What's more, the platform is rolling out a reward pool worth $100,000. This pool will be spread across players who join in through quests, in-game milestones, or competitive placements. These features seek to bring stronger engagement and help each game gain traction more quickly within the space.
A Shift in Strategy for Immutable
For the past 7 years, Immutable onboarded each of its more than 680 games one at a time. This launch marks the first time it has brought in several games at once as part of a broader strategic move. Robbie Ferguson, Co-founder and President of Immutable, shared how this represents a new chapter for the team's approach to web3 gaming.
"This launch signals the next chapter for Immutable Play," said Ferguson. "By working with Polygon to bring entire ecosystems of games to Play at once, we're accelerating the growth of web3 gaming and delivering more value to players than ever before."
The Polygon Hub stands as the first step in a shift toward ecosystem-wide deals rather than isolated title launches, setting the stage for a faster pace of onboarding in future.
Immutable zkEVM to Link With Agglayer
One key technical step tied to this deal is the upcoming integration of Immutable zkEVM with Polygon's Agglayer. This network connection will enable unified liquidity across the broader Polygon ecosystem. For builders and players, this means less fragmentation between different games and chains. It also allows for smoother gameplay, faster updates, and stronger support for asset interoperability.
Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs, commented on the importance of this move. "Immutable zkEVM set to join the Agglayer highlights the strength of our long-standing partnership and marks an important step forward for the broader gaming industry," said Boiron. "The Agglayer provides unified liquidity and seamless interoperability, giving developers and players confidence that their games and assets can thrive at scale. By aligning with Immutable's best-in-class gaming expertise, we are ensuring that web3 gaming can grow sustainably and deliver long-term value to communities worldwide."
This connection will let builders tap into shared user bases and asset pools across games. It also provides players with a more flexible gaming experience, where assets and items can potentially move more easily between games on the platform.
Strong Growth Metrics Back the Launch
Immutable zkEVM is already seeing solid usage numbers. With over $40 million in bridge TVL, 39,000 active daily users, and more than 250,000 monthly users, it is one of the stronger chains supporting blockchain games today. By linking this infrastructure with Agglayer and offering a curated space for new Polygon games, the platform is setting itself up for even faster growth.
This move also gives developers the tools to launch scalable, user-friendly games without needing to build entire blockchain systems from scratch. With Immutable handling the growth and engagement layers, and Polygon providing the broader cross-chain ecosystem, the setup aims to lower barriers for web3 game makers.
What Comes Next for the Hub
With the hub now live, players can soon dive into the 5 new games, take part in the quest lines, and compete on leaderboards. While no official announcement has been made yet, the Polygon Hub has listed 5 upcoming games: Wilder Worlds, Bushwack, VOXIES, Soccerverse, and MIOMI Games.
Behind the scenes, builders will also have access to better support, marketing tools, and infrastructure. This includes scaling tools from Immutable's full-stack solution and exposure to users across Polygon's ecosystem.
A Busy Week for Immutable
The Polygon Hub announcement comes just a day after another major move from Immutable. On Tuesday, the team revealed the start of the Immutable Masters Illuvium Pro League (IPL), with the first tournament in the new series (the IPL 1000) starting on October 3. The event includes open qualifiers, followed by a main event on October 4, with a total prize pool of $20,000.
This marks the debut of the "Immutable Masters" branding within Illuvium's esports plans. The IPL 1000 tournament is invite-only, with only 64 players competing for the top prize and the highest tier of qualifying points. Players who perform well in this tournament earn 1000 IPL Points, which are used to qualify for the IPL Main Event in December. That event will feature a $150K prize pool and the top 64 players from the season.
Immutable's Deeper Role in the IPL
Immutable isn't just providing tech infrastructure for the IPL. The team is also helping with marketing and promotion to raise the profile of Illuvium in the wider web3 gaming scene. Ferguson said this support goes back to Illuvium's early days: "We've been working with Illuvium since they first walked into our Sydney office in 2020 with a whitepaper and a vision," he said. "Building multiple titles into a single world, all tied together with on-chain assets, was bold, but it made sense to us. We've been excited to back them ever since."
The IPL is built around Illuvium Arena, the game's PvP-focused title that supports free to play access. This competitive platform is central to the league, offering gameplay through modes like Gauntlet and Ascendant.
Full Season Plans for Illuvium's League
The IPL season started in August and ends in early December, with players entering multiple tournaments to qualify for the $150,000 Main Event. There are 3 types of events: IPL 250, IPL 500, and IPL 1000. Each offers a different prize pool and point rewards. Smaller events are open to more players, while IPL 1000 events like this week's are invite-only and offer the most value.
Outside of tournament slots, players can also qualify for the finals via ranked play, last-chance events, or wildcard invites. Illuvium has already put aside $14 million for future prize pools, signaling plans to grow the league further if current efforts are successful.
As the web3 gaming space heats up, recent moves like the Polygon Hub and the IPL series show Immutable's dual focus on platform growth and esports gaming. Both are geared toward building player trust, long-term engagement, and scalable platforms for onchain games.
