PlayEmber, a web3 game studio backed by Shima Capital, Big Brain Holdings, and Hyperithm, has made two big announcements in the same week. One is the launch of The Emby Creator Hub, a learning home for content creators, and the other is the release of Monster Tycoon, a free to play dungeon crawler for mobile devices, made in collaboration with Pixelmon.
The Emby Creator Hub is a gamified platform dedicated to helping out new and more experienced content creators in learning and growing further in their content creation journey by participating in creator programs containing potentially useful prizes.
The official page can be found linked in the studio’s Medium post, where you will have the option to submit an application for a chance at getting accepted into the Creator Program.
This program is actually divided into 2 programs: The Emby Creator October Program, and The Creator Initiate Program.
For the first one, you need to be an Emby NFT holder, while the second one is for those with the creator initiate Discord role and for those who don’t own the team’s NFT. For non-holders without a reference code, it seems that you need to have at least 50 followers on Twitter/X to properly apply for review.
Winning 1st place in the holder-only program is rewarded with a sponsorship that takes you to the YGG Play Summit in Manila, the Philippines. Other exclusive prizes not specifically revealed at the time of writing could include a variety of software, hardware, and maybe more.
If you end up among the top 5 creators in the non-holder program, you will be rewarded with an Emby NFT in order to participate in the main program in the future.
Whichever program you end up potentially getting in, you will be competing for the top leaderboard spots by completing various creator activities, with 2-3 new activities added every week. Participants will want to keep an eye on the Discord Creator Updates channel in their official server in order to not miss any useful info to help you with doing the available quests. These activities revolve around doing various tasks related to content creation, and then submitting your created Twitter content to the platform. The platform will track the number of impressions your content has in order to earn leaderboard points. Alongside points based on impressions, the team could manually award bonus points to content they deem to be of high quality, with the Medium post suggesting that video content “is likely to be viewed more favorably.”
As you do the activities available on the platform, you can also use various features that could be helpful in making better content, such as The Embifier, which can help you create 2D content by giving you a creator tool plus various Twitter banners, PFPs, and mobile wallpapers.
Shortly after unveiling the content creator-focused platform, PlayEmber and Pixelmon announced the launch of Monster Tycoon, a monster-collecting adventure game available as a free to play web3 mobile game on the Play Store and App Store. It’s made by PlayEmber using Pixelmon IP and it runs on Immutable zkEVM.
The launch took place on September 27th, marking the start of Season One, which lasts for 3 weeks and includes a prize pool of more than 10,000 $IMX tokens alongside Pixelmon and Emby NFTs. If you’re an Emby NFT holder already though, you can enjoy extra benefits that include bonus daily Shards, higher Shard rewards for completing achievements, and access to an extra $MON protocol pool.
In terms of gameplay, the top-down dungeon crawler revolves around collecting up to 45 Pixelmons by exploring various different levels while unlocking badges by doing in-game tasks that may include gameplay activities such as winning 3 duels, capturing a certain number of creatures, and more. Players can collect Pixelmon in multiple different ways, while completing quests is rewarded with Shards that you can exchange for keys that can open prize chests.
Shards can also be claimed daily and come in 3 different types: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. This also means that keys come in the same rarities as well, so the better the Shards you have, the better the keys you can forge, leading to rarer prize chests that have more tickets which auto-enter you into daily, weekly, and seasonal raffles for a chance at earning $IMX tokens and NFTs. The more tickets you have, the better your chances are of snagging a share of the 10k $IMX prize pool. Players will need to use the dashboard on PlayEmber’s official website in order to use Shards for creating keys.
Alongside earning Shards through gameplay and the daily claim system, you can also buy Shard Packs using USDC, with the Standard Pack priced at $1.99 USDC, while the Premium Pack is $3.99 USDC. Both packs can be bought on the Ethereum and Polygon networks. Check out the official game guide for more details on this launch.
