PlayDapp, a Web3 gaming ecosystem, has announced that its mainnet is now officially live as an Avalanche subnet, moving away from its previous cross-chain platform and setting up a customizable new chain on the popular Layer 1 network.

Mainnet Details

Last month, PlayDapp partnered with Avalanche to make this mainnet launch happen. While a press release back then stated it would go live on April 11th, it seems to have take a bit longer to happen, as it was in the final stages of launching at the time, undergoing “rigorous risk management tests” to make sure the network is stable and safe to use. The mainnet went live on April 16th while the developers continued work on varied projects, including a DAO Game, bridging of $PDA, and airdrop of Mainnet Mikey to holders.

A day after going live, the team completed migration of Mikey NFTs from Polygon over to the new network on April 17th. Eligible holders included owners holding NFTs in private wallets, as well as holders who staked Mikey NFTs using the PlayDapp Members+ service, according to a Twitter thread earlier this month. The migration took place automatically without users needing to do anything.

Post-migration, the team advised the community who staked Mikey NFTs in the Members+ service to restake their migrated NFTs in order to continue having access to the benefits the service brings, now providing users with 3 months of staking that is free from gas fees. The smart contract of old NFTs from Polygon has been paused, removing the ability to trade or sell them, making the newly-migrated assets the ones with utility. Holders can expect new utility to be brought in the near future. Specifically, owners will be able to stake their NFTs in the upcoming EZ Play in order to gain tickets “for captivating experiences.” The assets will also be usable for DAO games, enabling the earning of $PDA rewards, with the developers also teasing exclusive privileges for holders in a future P2E game.

What’s Next?

Following the launch, the team has teased that a DAO Game and a new mobile game are coming soon, with both set to provide staking benefits. The DAO Game in particular will provide up to 5000 $PDA rewards for staking Mikey NFTs. Next to these Web3 games, the developers are also working on launching Marketplace Plus and releasing overhauled tournaments referred to as EZ Play.
