The Christmas Event in Engines of Fury (EoF) is now live and will run until December 29. It kicked off earlier last week on Wednesday, right after a short maintenance period, and since then, players have been jumping into the snowy version of the game's world. Decorations are scattered across the battlefield, the Christmas leaderboard is up, and anyone taking part has just over a week left to make it count.
If you're already playing or thinking about logging in, here's what the event involves, what you can earn, and how it ties into the rest of the game.
The Engines of Fury Christmas Event Overview
From now until December 29 at 3:00 PM UTC, you can take part in the Christmas Event by looking for special holiday-themed decorations during your raids. These decorations show up randomly on the Cliffside and Fairwater maps and don't affect any of the normal loot or enemies. They're just added to the existing layout. So if you're familiar with how things work in the game, nothing's changed except the in-game goal.
Each decoration you collect has value. If you manage to extract safely with them and make it back to your hideout, you can use them to upgrade your hideout's Christmas level. Every time you level up that part of your base, you get 100 event points. You also get 1 point for every decoration you still have in your stash when the event ends.
That's how you climb the event leaderboard. It updates in real time, so you can check your rank anytime while the event is still running.
Rewards and Leaderboard
The main point of this event is the Christmas leaderboard. Only players in the top 15 will get rewards when it ends, and what you receive depends on where you land.
If you're in the top two, you'll get a Rare Engine Core, a key item used to unlock Faction Lockboxes inside the Engine module in your hideout. Players ranked between 3rd and 10th will get an Initiate's Pass, which grants access to high-tier Council Caches in future raids. Places 11 through 15 will receive one Faction Lockbox and 200 Medusal Stems.
There are no participation rewards. You either get on the board or you don't. That means players who want to secure a spot will need to go out, scavenge as much as they can, and survive each extraction.
Christmas Decos: What They Are and Where to Find Them
All event decorations are found on Cliffside and Fairwater. They appear in random locations during each match. If you've played before, you'll notice they don't interfere with existing systems. You'll still run into the usual mix of enemies, loot spots, and traps.
There are 16 different decorations in total. You'll come across Bird Ornaments, Elf Ornaments, Snowflake Ornaments, and even a Tree Topper. Some, like the Unstable Ornament, stand out a bit more. But no matter which ones you find, they all help you build up points for the leaderboard.
To make use of any decoration, you have to bring it back alive. If you die before extracting, you lose it. This adds some pressure to every raid and forces you to think twice before going deeper into the map.
How the Event Fits into the Game
Engines of Fury is a top-down extraction RPG where the main goal is simple: drop into a zone, grab what you can, survive the enemies (and other players), and get out. Once you make it back to your hideout, you can craft gear, upgrade your base, and prepare for the next run.
The game's main hook is that everything is at risk. If you die, you lose not only the loot you just picked up but also two or three of the items you were wearing. So every fight matters, and every trip is a gamble.
The Christmas Event follows that same design. The only difference is you're now also looking for decorations. You still have to fight your way out, but now you're doing it while carrying extra items that help you climb the leaderboard.
Game Features That Tie Into the Event
The rewards in the Christmas Event connect directly with the game's core systems. For example, the Rare Engine Core unlocks the Engine module in your hideout, which is used to open Faction Lockboxes. These lockboxes give out random amounts of ALLOY, the game's main soft currency. You can get anywhere between 100 to 10,000 ALLOY per box, and ALLOY itself can be exchanged for the onchain token FURY at your Trading Station.
The Initiate's Pass, given to players ranked 3rd to 10th, is used to access Council Caches, which are special loot points during raids. Only players with the pass can open them. Inside, you might find Faction Shards, which are needed to craft Faction Lockboxes, or small amounts of ALLOY.
So, even though this is a holiday event, the rewards plug straight back into the game's longer-term economy.
What Is Engines of Fury?
If you haven’t played Engines of Fury before, it’s an extraction game with a top-down view set in a ruined world full of mutants. You fight your way through maps, collect loot, and head back to a base where you build out your loadout and character.
The game supports both solo and co-op play. In co-op mode, you and a partner spawn together and share loot and battles. You can switch weapons, dodge attacks, and build your character's stats to suit your preferred playstyle: fast and nimble, or slow but heavy-hitting.
Maps are filled with loot caches, enemies, and places to hide or fight. There's friendly fire, so misusing abilities can hurt you or your teammate. You also don't have full vision of the map; enemies off-screen are shown through audio and mini-map pings.
The main point is survival. You pick up loot, but you only keep it if you make it out.
In-Game Economy: ALLOY and FURY
The game's economy runs on two main systems: ALLOY and FURY.
ALLOY is what you earn in-game. You get it from raids, from lockboxes, or by defeating other players. You can use it for crafting, buying consumables, or upgrading your gear.
FURY is a separate, onchain token that connects to certain in-game items. You can get it by trading ALLOY at your hideout's Trading Station, or through events like this. FURY lets you access cosmetic options, premium items, or utility NFTs.
This loop, where you use ALLOY to get FURY and FURY to improve your ability to earn ALLOY, sits at the heart of the game's progression. That makes any event that hands out tools like Engine Cores or Initiate Passes a key part of that system.
Final Week of the Event
With just 1 week left, the Christmas Event in EoF is entering its final stretch. The in-game leaderboard is still live and updates in real time as players rack up points.
Every Decoration you extract and each hideout upgrade you manage before December 29 could be the difference between walking away with a prize or missing out entirely.
This holiday event also comes right in the middle of Initiates Season 2, which went live last month. Season 2 introduced Co-op Mode, Scavenger Mode, and new seasonal items like the Temporary Initiate's Pass and Single-Use Engine Core. These features have opened up new ways to play, making the event an even better reason to jump back in.
