What’s New in The Sandbox Alpha Season 5?

Alpha Season 5 is a 6-week platform event featuring more than 40 unique experiences to enjoy in The Sandbox. For this season, you’ll spend time on a Jurassic World-inspired island that contains 6 different regions to explore and earn Ethos Points (EP) in. More than 20 partner brands with their own content and experiences, and some of the best user-generated content are also included for this season.

The iconic franchise’s metaverse island is an amusement park featuring not only content based on the popular IP, but also content from a variety of well-known personalities and brands such as Atari, Terminator: Dark Fate, The British Museum, ATEEZ, and more. The 6 regions you can explore include The Beach, The Arcade, The Volcano, The Garden, The Museum, and The Jungle. Every region is said to be packed with surprises and opportunities collect Ethos Points, which is what determines your leaderboard ranking.

Commemorating this season is also the first-ever Jurassic World-inspired experience in this voxel metaverse called Jurassic World: Dinosaur Preserve. You play as a staff member in the Dinosaur Protection Group who has to maintain a dinosaur sanctuary in Arizona by keeping the prehistoric creatures safe and sound while exploring and gathering various resources. There is a day and night cycle in place, new weekly quests, randomized challenges, a diverse ecosystem to take care of, and dynamic events such as wildfires and sandstorms to deal with. As you complete your tasks, you earn Jurassic Points (JPs), which you need for growing Dinosaur Eggs but also for upgrading your sanctuary. The eggs end up hatching into fully-grown dinosaurs as digital collectibles you can hold in your wallet or place on your own metaverse experience in The Sandbox Map. You get a special EP bonus for growing dinosaurs to adulthood, while those who get Premium Eggs are given more EP. Premium Eggs can be gained by getting to level 2 of the Alpha Pass track, and you can also mint them on a dedicated page of the platform’s official website. Buying an adult Dinosaur Egg on the secondary market does not award you with EP.

If you want a dedicated social place to hang out in, then stop by the Alpha Season 5 Hub where you can also claim $SAND token rewards from Partner Passes and LAND Owner Hub Passes. It’s probably the best place to get started in for this season too, as you can do various quests to quickly earn some EP, and there are characters you can interact with for tips and tricks to help you get the most out of this season. This hub also lets you teleport to other experiences from this season.

This season also marks the introduction of Abilities. The debut of this feature is marked by the introduction of 3 Abilities: Double Jump, Fly, and Air Dance. Players can activate Abilities depending on the NFTs that can be equipped in an experience, with most of this season’s experiences integrating at least one of the new Abilities.

How to Play to Earn in The Sandbox Alpha Season 5

There are various different ways for players to earn rewards in The Sandbox Alpha Season 5. It’s potentially possible to earn up to 710+ $SAND rewards per player depending on activity and holdings.

Anyone can play to earn 10 $SAND for free by progressing through to level 10 of the Battle Pass. You get to level up through the Battle Pass by collecting EP, which is awarded for completing a variety of quests. The free Battle Pass also features 10 Equipment NFT prizes as well, half of which are Jurassic World-branded digital collectibles, while the other half are from this season’s partners such as Atari, Care Bears, and more.

If you want to earn more, you’ll want to become an Alpha Pass owner for an opportunity of grabbing up to 110 $SAND tokens – the 10 $SAND from the Battle Pass, the 40 $SAND from the Alpha Pass track, and 60 $SAND from 6 Partner Passes that you earn from the Alpha Pass track, with every Partner Pass this season featuring 10 $SAND each. Owning the Alpha Pass also gets you a free Common Jurassic World Dinosaur Egg once you complete level 2 of the Battle Pass.

Throughout this season, you can also collect 44 free NFTs across every season-dedicated experience, while Avatar Owners get their own ranger gear that includes the Tracker’s Grip Gloves, the Saurian Trailblazer Shorts, and Ranger’s Honor Straps. The rewards for Avatar Owners apply only to eligible KYC’d users included in a snapshot taken on March 25th, 9 AM UTC.

The final week of this season will feature a $SAND Raffle in which 500 players stand a chance of earning 500 $SAND tokens. Players can increase their chances of winning in the raffle by attempting to get as many EP as possible during the season – the more EP collected, the higher the chances.
