Following the Bug Playtest with bounty rewards and the launch of the $FISH whitepaper, developer Uncharted has officially launched Chapter 2 of Fishing Frenzy, making it possible to play to earn once again while introducing the game’s core token alongside various new features to enjoy for an improved blockchain gaming experience.
What Is Fishing Frenzy?
Fishing Frenzy is a free to play cozy RPG on the Ronin network, created by the web3 gaming ecosystem and studio Uncharted. It blends casual fishing, light role-playing elements, cooking, collection systems, and a player-driven economy powered by on-chain features. The game positions itself between luck-based progression and skill-based mini games, while still aiming to remain approachable to new players.
In this browser-based web3 game, players catch fish through a fast and timing-based fishing mini game, cook them for rewards, collect rare species, and obtain on-chain items such as NFT rods and chests. The game has supposedly garnered over 10 million installs to date, as well as more than 25k daily active users, more than $1 million in revenue, and over $2 million in on-chain NFT volume. These figures place it among the leading titles on the Ronin network in terms of activity.
Fishing Frenzy is playable on PC through any modern web browser, and players can begin as guests before connecting a wallet or using a social login. Since launch, the developers have expanded the game through new features, events, skills, and systems. The arrival of Chapter 2 marks the largest update to date, introducing new token mechanics, new progression paths, new zones, and new ways to play to earn rewards.
What’s New in Fishing Frenzy Chapter 2?
Fishing Frenzy Chapter 2 is now live and introduces a full expansion of the game’s progression systems, reward loops, and economy. The update also launches the on-chain $FISH token and the new in-game reward token called xFISH. Together with the Karma system, these upgrades form the foundation of a new player reputation-based economy. The goal is to reward committed players, reduce the influence of bots, and add clearer long-term incentives.
Karma remains the central metric that measures each player’s contribution to Fishing Frenzy. Karma grows through actions such as staking $FISH, providing liquidity to the $FISH / RON pool, buying or transferring $FISH, making in-game purchases, playing the game, creating content, staking the Founders Pass, and referring other players. Higher Karma unlocks more features, improves a player’s status within the community, and affects the efficiency of several reward paths. Karma also influences the conversion rate when changing xFISH to $FISH. This makes player reputation directly tied to the return they receive from the token economy.
Chapter 2 introduces xFISH as a non-tradable reward currency that can be earned through gameplay. Players can stake xFISH, dive with it, or convert it to on-chain $FISH through the token dashboard. Conversion requires a fee that is determined by the user’s Karma level. A share of these fees returns to xFISH holders, creating a feedback loop within the ecosystem.

The update also expands the game world with new zones: Event Zones and Permanent Zones, such as the new Cavern.
The Cavern is a new Permanent Zone unlocked at Fishing Level 80. This area includes a new set of fish, including shiny variants, and introduces fossils, a new item type. Fossils unlock additional fish in Permanent Zones. They can be obtained through Cavern fishing with NFT rods, diving, or spinning the Pearl Wheel or the Daily Free Wheel. Fossils are also part of a new NFT collection with rarity tiers that include Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. A Mythic Pity system guarantees that the 300th fossil caught will be Mythic. Doing x5 and x20 fishing increases both the pity progress and the number of fossils gained.
Along with the Cavern, players can explore Event Zones that appear during special events. Event Zones include exclusive fish and resources that can be used to acquire pets and upgrade points in the Event Store. Fish caught in Event Zones can only be displayed in the Aquarium while the event remains active.
A new travel screen now allows players to move between core locations such as the Aquarium, Cavern, Restaurant, Workshop, and Diving in a single click. This shortens navigation time and supports faster gameplay.
This relaunch also renews the referral system. Referrals now operate on Karma, and players receive 10% of the Karma that their referred friends earn. This rework aligns the referral program with the updated economy.
The update expands questing with new daily quests that reward gold, points, and xFISH. A Prestige Leaderboard unlocks at 200k Karma, while a Daily Token Wheel unlocks at 120k Karma at the start of the day. Both features provide new paths to progression.
Rods, chests, and shiny NFT fish remain part of the economy. Chests can contain NFT rods, and NFT rods can catch shiny NFT fish. These items remain tradable and continue to support the game’s marketplace. If you’ve played before, you probably have a general idea of how you can play to earn, but if you’re hopping in for the first time, then here’s how you can get started web3 gaming in Chapter 2.
How to Play to Earn in Fishing Frenzy Chapter 2
Play to earn gameplay in Fishing Frenzy Chapter 2 revolves around Karma, xFISH, and $FISH. These 3 systems form a unified progression structure in which every action builds toward long-term utility and reward eligibility.
Players earn Karma through gameplay actions. This includes catching fish, cooking sashimi, completing daily quests, diving for coral and rewards, expanding their Aquarium collection, participating in events, and engaging with the game frequently. Karma can also be increased by staking $FISH, staking the Founder Pass NFT, creating content, and referring other players. Higher Karma opens more earning opportunities and access to high-level features.
Daily quests reward xFISH and gold. Completing the daily quest path earns points and contributes to long-term progression. Players with enough Karma can access the Daily Token Wheel, which offers the chance to earn additional xFISH. The Prestige Leaderboard offers further rewards to players who reach the highest Karma levels.
xFISH is earned through gameplay. Players can stake xFISH, dive with it, or convert it into $FISH. Converting xFISH into $FISH requires a fee determined by the player’s Karma level. This means players with higher Karma enjoy more efficient conversion. A portion of each conversion fee returns to xFISH holders.
$FISH is the on-chain token that powers the advanced layers of the game economy. It can be purchased, traded, staked, or used within the game. Players should check the token dashboard to confirm their eligibility for any $FISH allocation from prior airdrops. Claiming and staking $FISH further increases Karma and unlocks more opportunities.
Players can also play and earn by obtaining fossils, unlocking new fish, and catching rare or shiny NFT species through NFT rods. These NFTs remain tradable and contribute to the game’s player-driven economy.
