The team at Cambria has announced the launch of the Ranked Ladder for Duel Arena, giving the blockchain gaming community more than a month to play to earn weekly and seasonal rewards by winning high-stakes PvP matches.

What Is Cambria: Duel Arena?

Duel Arena is the “social degen hub” for skill-based games set within the Cambria universe, a 2D gaming ecosystem that is also comprised of a RuneScape-inspired risk to earn MMO, Gold Rush.

In Duel Arena, players battle it out in competitive games with on-chain stakes, with the primary game mode being Duels, a 1v1 fight in a pixelated top-down arena that can be enjoyed with no risk, but also with ETH on Abstract Chain Wallet or RON on Ronin Wallet at stake. Wager your crypto for a chance to be the winner that walks away with all the spoils.

Next to the main game mode that is Duels, there are other activities to enjoy as well, including Pit Fights, Flower Poker, Cosmetic chests (that will become tradable NFTs), and more, with Fishing teased to be among the upcoming features.

Following the launch of this multi-chain web3 game on web browsers last month, the devs have now launched the Ranked Ladder on September 11, incentivizing players to compete for rewards over the long-term instead of just for wagers per match. Here’s how it all works.

What Is the Duel Arena Ranked Ladder?

The Ranked Ladder is the competitive seasonal period for the Prizefighter’s Battle Pass in Duel Arena.

From September 11 to October 26, players can climb the weekly and seasonal rankings to earn a variety of rewards for proving their skills in the “Arena NO HONOR” mode and the “Arena DEATHMATCH” mode.

The NO HONOR mode is one of 2 types of arena duels in which you engage in competitive 1v1 gameplay on a 2D map. This is the only mode through which you can win weekly rewards for this season, with the best players of the week winning Mando’s Favor and airdrop rewards referred to as Trinkets. Mando’s Favor is a points system determining your share of a weekly rewards drop or “Cashout” that is shared by the wizard Mandrogan. The more favor you have with this wizard, the more goodies you could earn, which include ETH, limited-time Party Hats, Trinkets, and chain-exclusive rewards.

As you try top the weekly leaderboards, you’ll also want to play in the Arena Deathmatch mode to increase your chances of winning end of season rewards. In Deathmatch, you’re also doing 1v1 battles within a confined area with any melee weapon of your choice and you get to use food as well, but prayers, which are magical special abilities, are disabled in this mode.

Both modes have their separate ladders, and the highest-ranked players across both will have a chance of earning prizes by the end of the season that include Achievement Badges, ETH and RON tokens from Battle Pass purchases, and a limited time cosmetic for players above an unrevealed rank, though it is known that your Prizefighter Skill needs to be 99 alongside the mystery requirement to become eligible for the exclusive cosmetic. While performance across both modes counts towards your seasonal ranking, the weekly rewards can only be attained by climbing the ladder designated for the No Honor mode.

How to Play to Earn in Duel Arena Ranked Ladder Season

Duel Arena is available as a browser-based game through Cambria’s official website, but in order to play to earn during the Ranked Ladder Season, you will need to mint the Prizefighter Battle Pass on Abstract or Ronin before climbing the leaderboards. You can create a game account using social sign in options or your crypto wallet, preferably via the Abstract Global Wallet or Ronin Wallet if you want to stake ETH or RON tokens to gain rewards from winning PvP matches.

The Prizefighter’s Pass can be minted through the game on Abstract and Ronin for the price of 0.0035 ETH or 30 RON respectively. This seasonal pass has been designed to run for about 2 months, from the game’s August launch to October 26, but it has now become a requirement for participating in this competitive PvP season, which launched on September 11 and ends together with the battle pass.

To progress through the battle pass and unlock rewards, you need to level up the Prizefighter skill in-game by earning XP from arena duels, the same duels you need to play to climb the seasonal ladder.

Once you’ve created your customizable character and minted the Prizefighter’s Pass, enter the Duel Arena world and press the “Find a Duel” button on the bottom center part of your screen or click on the Registration Table object found in-game next to the jukebox. Head to the “Ranked - Queue” tab of the matchmaking screen, find the mode you’d like to play, and queue up. You can queue up for a ranked F2P duel or a crypto arena duel, all of which are said to be ranked as well.

For this season, you’ll want to engage in 1v1 PvP battles in the No Honor and Deathmatch modes. While both are similar, No Honor does allow the use of prayers and is the only mode through which you can qualify for weekly rewards, while both modes are used to determine reward distribution at the end of the season.

In terms of gameplay, you engage in top-down 2D combat by clicking on the opposing player while using different melee weapons and switching between Stances and special attacks, which vary based on the type of duel. Basically, when you’re attacking, you’ll want to switch to the Aggressive Stance, while using the Defensive Stance when sustaining damage. If you want to have a higher hit chance but deal lower damage, then you should switch to the Accurate Stance. This is a rock paper scissors system where Accurate beats Defensive, Defensive beats Aggressive, and Aggressive beats Accurate.

If you’re not sure whether you’re ready to compete for this season, you can try Cambria: Duel Arena and both types of modes for free before deciding to mint the battle pass. Learn more about the game’s mechanics and incentive systems by checking out the official documentation.
