Gaming ecosystem Overtake has officially kicked off the Season 2 Launchpool for Telegram survival shooter Golden Guardians: Survivor, allowing anyone to jump in for free to play to airdrop $OVT.
For this season, a total of 5 million $OVT in rewards are up for grabs for the highest-ranked players on the leaderboard. This represents 0.5% of the token’s total supply, and to rank on the leaderboard, you’ll need to survive as long as you can to try and get the highest score. The plan was to initially allocate 1% of the total supply, but the team decided to halve it and move those tokens to other web3 games in the Overtake ecosystem “for fairness and excitement of GameFest.”
GameFest is Overtake’s big airdrop campaign that started in November 2024, giving blockchain gamers the opportunity to play to airdrop a total of 85 million $OVT tokens across multiple launchpools, such as this one. Here’s how you can jump into this season for free!
You can play to airdrop for free by using the Telegram link found in the official announcement. After you open the mini app through the official bot and click on the in-game piggy bank a couple of times, you will be able to start using Energy to play the core game.
The core top-down 2D gameplay is inspired by indie hit Vampire Survivors. Basically, your goal is to try and survive as long as possible by avoiding waves of enemies swarming around you while your character automatically uses various powers to take them out. As you defeat enemies you gain XP to level up, with each level up giving you the opportunity to add a new ability to use in battle. You get to choose between 3 new skills every time you level up. This means that, while the game does get continuously more challenging the longer you survive, you also start getting more powerful as well with all the new skills you unlock. Skills can also be leveled up, so if the same skill you already have shows up next time, picking it again will upgrade it. If you die though, it’s game over, so you start from scratch on the next run.
This web3 game has 6 different characters to choose from at the start of each run, with only one available from the beginning for free. Each character has their own special ability that you can strategically activate to ensure your survival. To unlock the other 5 characters, you will have to purchase them from the game’s shop using Telegram Stars or one of the listed cryptocurrencies across Immutable zkEVM and Arbitrum One networks.
The shop also has a “Mysterious Gift Box” that you can buy using the gems premium currency in order to get loads of different relics. Each relic provides a different stat boost to your character, and you can even level up relics by collecting duplicates to make the stat boosts stronger. You can get the premium currency for free by claiming a daily gift, which requires connecting your wallet. The currency can also be earned by completing quests that include joining Telegram channels and connecting your Immutable Passport.
Essentially, the longer you survive, the higher the score you achieve, in turn helping you rank higher on the leaderboard. Each playthrough consumes 5 Energy, and everyone gets 50 Energy at the start for free. Once you use them all up, they will start to regenerate over time until the limit of 25 Energy is reached. If you don't want to wait, you can also buy Energy using the gems currency.
The TGE for $OVT could take place in Q1 2025.
