Play to Airdrop in Swords of Blood Open Beta

Developer Hitbox Games has announced the open beta launch of Swords of Blood, giving everyone the opportunity to play to airdrop for free throughout March.

What Is Swords of Blood?

Swords of Blood is a free to play hack-n-slash RPG in which you fight your way through a fantasy world inhabited by various hostile monsters in top-down action-packed gameplay. There are multiple game modes to choose from, allowing you to enjoy a campaign mode, a monster hunting mode, co-op boss battles, as well as dungeon crawling action through daily dungeons. As you play, you get to craft weapons and upgrade your gear as you tailor your build to your playstyle. It’s primarily powered by ApeChain, with a strong partnership with Immutable enabling the studio to bring their NFTs to both chains.

This blockchain game is currently available in open beta during March 2025. In the same month, you also have an opportunity to play to airdrop $50k worth of rewards. Here’s how you can get started.

How to Play to Airdrop in Swords of Blood

From March 1st to March 31st, you can play to airdrop $HBOX NFTs in Swords of Blood by progressing through campaign stages and clearing daily dungeons. The NFTs will be exchanged to tokens when the $HBOX TGE takes place. The TGE is planned to happen at some point in April 2025. Each NFT is a box containing 2000 tokens, with those 2000 tokens said to be valued at $10 on TGE.

According to the announcement in the game’s official Discord server, there are 166 $HBOX NFTs up for grabs every day, which is said to be equal to $1660 in daily drops. Everyone has a small chance of getting $HBOX NFTs through gameplay. The specific drop rate wasn’t mentioned, but if you are lucky enough to get this NFT, you will be placed on a 1-hour cooldown, meaning that you can’t get more than 1 $HBOX NFT per hour. So once you get one, it’s probably best to stop playing for an hour or so and come back later for another chance at getting more rewards. The reward screen that appears after you complete a campaign stage or daily dungeon won’t tell if you won the NFT. You’ll only be notified of the prize once you head back to the main screen. Head to the GUTS menu on the right side of the main screen to check how many $HBOX you have. The GUTS menu might not open at the time of writing, but this doesn’t impact your chances of getting the NFT as the latest build fixed an issue with the drop rate. The GUTS menu display issue should be fixed soon.

Of course, if 166 $HBOX NFTs are already distributed for that day, then you should wait for the next day if you’re mainly playing to earn a bigger airdrop allocation. The game’s reward distribution is said to reset every day at 00:00 UTC.

That’s all there is to it, a very simple system that rewards the most dedicated and engaged players. There doesn’t seem to be any multipliers, increased drop rates, nor special benefits for holding an NFT or doing social tasks, although you can buy NFT gear from the game's Sequence-powered marketplace to make in-game progression easier. While you will see an in-game leaderboard through which goodies can also be earned, the team has stated in the Discord announcement that the leaderboard rewards are not actually active yet. It will be activated at some point later on and will require players to have at least 3 unspecified NFTs equipped on their character in order to be eligible for ladder prizes.

As for the token itself, $HBOX represents the studio’s own governance and utility token that will be used for all the games they develop.

You can start your play to airdrop journey in Swords of Blood by downloading the game on PC through web3 native game store HyperPlay. The game is free to play and available for Windows only. The system requirements listed on the store page aren’t very specific, and they only mention the recommended specs. According to the recommended requirements, you need an Intel i5 CPU or higher, 8 GB of RAM, a GPU with at least 2 GB VRAM, and 4 GB of free space. However, their Discord server has an FAQ section with detailed minimum and recommended specifications:
