Play Solana has announced a major step forward in its web3 gaming mission with the reveal of SuperHUB, a fully connected system designed to merge hardware, games, identity, and finance into one platform. The announcement came via X on October 2, just days before the team begins shipping its PSG1 gaming console on October 6, and ahead of the upcoming $PLAY token, which is set to launch on October 13.

What is the Play Solana SuperHUB?
SuperHUB is being introduced as a new foundation for blockchain gaming. Instead of building another single-purpose app or game, Play Solana is offering a full gaming stack that connects different parts of the web3 experience in one place. According to the team, SuperHUB brings together gaming devices, blockchain wallets, digital identity, community IP, and decentralized finance, all in one ecosystem.
The idea is simple: make web3 gaming easier to access and more enjoyable to play. SuperHUB has been built from the ground up to fix some of the biggest issues that have held back the space.
The Problem with Web3 Gaming So Far
While crypto gaming has grown over the past few years, it still hasn't broken into the mainstream. According to Play Solana, there were around 4.9 million daily active wallets involved in web3 gaming in May 2025. But that only makes up 0.6% of the 820 million crypto wallets in total, and wallet activity doesn't always mean real players.
For comparison, platforms like Roblox report over 112 million daily active users, and Steam has over 69 million. These are unique people logging in to play games; not just wallet interactions on blockchain networks. Web3 gaming continues to fall behind, not just in size, but in how many players actually stay engaged over time.
Play Solana points to 4 main reasons why this is happening. First, there's no clear way to onboard new users. Most games expect players to already know how wallets, tokens, and NFTs work. Second, many games focus too much on earning and not enough on fun. Third, the player experience is scattered across many platforms, apps, and tools. And fourth, there's no physical anchor; no hardware that ties everything together like a console.
How SuperHUB Works
They say SuperHUB is designed to solve all of those problems by building a connected system from the ground up. At the center of this system is PSG1, a gaming console made for blockchain players. But SuperHUB goes beyond the device itself.
It includes a game library, built-in DeFi features, a progress tracker, and tools for digital identity. It also links to cultural brands, letting communities bring their own stories and tokens into the ecosystem. Each piece is connected so that the whole experience feels simple, not scattered.
Play Solana describes SuperHUB as a distribution engine. It's not just one app or one device; it's the whole layer that delivers games, rewards, and digital content to players in a way that makes sense.
PSG1 Console Ships October 6
Shipping just 4 days after the SuperHUB reveal, the Play Solana Gen1 console (or PSG1) is a key part of the plan. It's a handheld gaming device with retro style and modern power. The PSG1 is built with an octa-core ARM processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. It also features WiFi 6.0, Bluetooth 5.4, and a capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back.
But this isn't just a gaming device. It includes a built-in hardware wallet, secured by a system called SvalGuard, and it runs on EchOS, a version of Android made specifically for gaming. That means players can use DeFi apps, store their crypto, and launch games all from the same console; no browser extensions or outside tools required.
The console is priced at $329, with special editions (like Pudgy Penguins or BONK-themed versions) selling for $349. Play Solana is now in its 2nd wave of orders, and shipments are set to begin on October 6.
A New Way to Launch and Play Games
SuperHUB also offers a growing library of curated titles, combining native games with third-party projects into a single launcher. Among them is "Play Solana: Origins," a flagship title designed to introduce new players to staking, swaps, and NFTs through gameplay. This approach helps turn onboarding into a playable experience rather than a technical hurdle. Community-driven titles like BONK Arena also show how token-based ecosystems can evolve into full games ready for native deployment on PSG1.

Progress, Identity, and Culture
Inside SuperHUB, players can track their progress and complete challenges using PlayDex, a built-in hub for quests, staking, and leaderboards. On top of that, PlayID provides a cross-device identity layer that links everything together from rewards to reputation.
The identity system isn't just a login. With NFTs like Player1 and Player2, users get digital profiles that grow with them. These profile pics aren't static NFTs as they're tied to governance, rewards, and how a player interacts across the platform.
Partnerships with community brands are a big part of this effort. Pudgy Penguins, one of the most well-known NFT collections in web3, is working with Play Solana to launch co-branded consoles and events. Another example is the MoonPay Exclusive Edition of PSG1, which targets premium users and brings digital access into the real world.
DeFi That Feels Native
One of the more unique features of SuperHUB is how it connects to DeFi. Instead of having to install separate wallets or learn new tools, players can access swaps, staking, and validator rewards straight from their PSG1 device.
This is made possible through an integration with Jupiter Mobile Wallet, a DeFi platform that's now embedded right into the SuperHUB through SvalGuard. With that, financial tools become part of the game loop; not something players need to figure out on the side.
$PLAY Token Debuts October 13
As part of the rollout, the team has announced the upcoming launch of its native $PLAY token, scheduled for October 13. While detailed tokenomics have not been released yet, players can already start earning XP ahead of the airdrop.
On October 1, the team introduced PlayBadges, a way to reward users across the Solana ecosystem. These badges are now available to select NFT communities such as DeGods, and allow holders to claim XP directly through PlayDex. But holding a badge is not required to earn XP.
Anybody can start building up XP by completing social quests on PlayDex, such as connecting wallets, joining community channels, or sharing posts. These actions count toward the $PLAY airdrop, which will be distributed based on XP rankings.
