Want to spice up your victory royales with some crypto rewards? Well, now you actually can through PerionXP’s Cutthroat Chaos, which lets you play in Fortnite to earn a share of 250k $PERC from the Season 1 prize pool.
What Is PerionXP and Cutthroat Chaos?
PerionXP is an on-chain questing platform in which you can take on various missions to earn rewards by playing your favorite AAA games, while Cutthroat Chaos is one of the platform’s first web3 meta-games in which you compete on a PvP leaderboard for crypto rewards by accumulating points earned from completing gameplay-focused missions. The latter uses a seasonal format that consists of multiple weekly leaderboards, so the higher your rank by the end of a season's weekly leaderboard, the more $PERC tokens you earn.
The first AAA game this platform is enhancing with play to earn rewards is Fortnite, but we might get to see more traditional games added in the future. The goal is to onboard 1 million web2 gamers over to web3 gaming over the course of 12 months using this gamified questing layer. This could be a more accessible way of getting more gamers interested in blockchain gaming, because it lets you simply play your favorite web2 game while potentially earning web3 rewards in the process, without interfering with the core game itself. That’s assuming this platform or similar protocols can expand this idea across multiple popular games though. Epic’s flagship battle royale seems to be the only option in this one, for now at least. It looks like the bottom disclaimer section of PerionXP’s website might be hinting at Overwatch 2, Counter-Strike 2, and Valorant as future games that you’ll be able to play and earn crypto in using this platform.
Next to trying to onboard gamers to on-chain gaming, the plan for 2025 is to also become a top 3 quest to earn protocol, putting the $PERC token alongside Galxe and Layer3, according to info on the official website. The gaming platform is backed by Animoca Brands, Pantera Capital, Framework Ventures, centralized exchange Gemini, CMCC Global, and Apollo Crypto.
Whether you’re a regular gamer or more of a blockchain gamer who enjoys playing Fortnite, here’s how you can get started completing missions while playing your favorite battle royale.

How to Play Fortnite to Earn $PERC in PerionXP’s Cutthroat Chaos Season 1
You can get started by signing up to Cutthroat Chaos using the official link from the announcement on X. This will take you to the registration page where you can set up an account for free by signing in via Google or by using your email address. You’ll then have to connect your Epic Games account so that the platform can verify your mission completion. Once you’ve linked that, that’s it. You will likely get a free reward, at least at the time of writing, and you can jump right in and start taking missions you’d like to do from the platform’s dashboard. There are plenty of them across solo, duo, and squad modes. Completing a mission gets you a certain number of leaderboard points, but it can also come with other random modifiers too. For example, completing a mission can get you 20 points, but it can also reduce the points of 3 random players by 22, so you can actually sabotage others as you try to earn points.
All new accounts should currently be rewarded with 100 Emeralds, which is the main currency for this platform’s meta-game in particular. Emeralds can be used to re-roll missions, boost your leaderboard points, and buy more Energy. Accepting missions costs varying amounts of Energy, so if you don’t have enough Energy, you can’t take on more missions. This means that you’ll have to wait some time for the Energy to replenish. You can also complete social tasks to get more Emeralds, so that you can get more Energy. Players can also buy Emeralds using $PERC tokens on the Base network.
Season 1 of Cutthroat Chaos launched on February 25th and consists of 4 mini-seasons. Each mini-season is actually a weekly leaderboard, so the first one ends on March 4th. If you missed out on this first week, you can join in on the second and try to compete for $PERC rewards for free. Check out the official documentation if you’d like to learn more.
