Web3 gaming ecosystem Tollan Universe has kicked off Season 1: Ogre Hunt of their blockchain-powered 2D roguelite title Tollan Survivors, introducing new mechanics and exclusive rewards for the best players to play and earn for.
What’s New in Tollan Survivors Season 1: Ogre Hunt?
As the name may imply, Season 1: Ogre Hunt of Tollan Survivors is all about fighting challenging Ogres, who are now said to be more difficult than ever before to face as you try to make the most of new scoring mechanics to top the new leaderboards.
For 2 weeks, from May 25 to June 8, you will be entering blue portals and hunting down all Ogres that spawn from red portals in order to collect event points called Tusks that are used to climb new leaderboards for a chance at earning from a player-funded prize pool. If you don’t make it out alive though, you lose the Tusks that you collected during the run. Each run puts you into an intense boss hunting mode where you will try to defeat as many Ogres as you can to accumulate more and more Tusks, but you’ll want to be very careful you don’t overstay your welcome, as you need to escape the area using a blue portal in order to keep all the Tusks you collected from that run. Your speed also matters, as you earn bonus points for swiftly taking out newly-spawned Ogres. The locations of blue and red portals change whenever a new Ogre enters the battlefield, so be ready to strategically adapt throughout these action-packed runs.
The cumulative and single-run leaderboards from Season 0 of Tollan Survivors are returning for this season as well, with the addition of an entirely new one: the Daily Leaderboard. The Daily Leaderboard rewards the top 20 players with bonus event points, but requires doing 10 completed runs a day in order to qualify. This new leaderboard resets every day at 12:00 AM UTC and gives engaged players more opportunities to earn a bigger share of the total prize pool. As for the other two, the Cumulative Leaderboard and Peak Run Leaderboard, the former tracks the total number of Tusks earned during the season in order to reward the top players with more Tusks and Season 2 progression items, while the latter is all about getting the best single run, with your score said to be based on performance, though Crystal multipliers do contribute to your ranking for a better chance at winning bonus event points.

Next to leaderboard rewards, there is also a player-funded USDC prize pool for this season, which has been seed-funded with $3000 USDC. The prize pool grows thanks to player spending. Specifically, this means that 70% of all Crown purchase profits go towards the Season 1 USDC pool. The more Tusks you collect, the bigger your share of the USDC pool could be, but you will need to earn the equivalent of $10+ worth of Tusks in order to qualify for this season’s USDC rewards. Registered wallets will receive their rewards on Arbitrum, with claims for the USDC pool opening within one week after the season is over, while leaderboard rewards will be available a day before Season 2 begins.
How to Play and Earn in Tollan Survivors Season 1: Ogre Hunt
In order to play and earn in Tollan Survivors Season 1: Ogre Hunt, you will need to buy the Gold Pass. This entry ticket not only grants you access, but also gives you 10 initial Crystals for your purchase, plus 5 free Crystals every day, though you need to claim them every 24 hours to actually receive them. The Gold Pass costs 500 Crowns, and Crystals are needed to actually start a boss hunt session, with higher-tier Crystals multiplying your score. This means that once you run out of Crystals for the day and you want to play more instead of waiting for the next day, you will need to then buy more Crystals.
Crowns is the hard currency of this web3 title, which you can purchase in crypto and fiat in order to buy items from the game’s store. You can buy Crowns in 3 bundles:
- Small (1000 Crowns for $8.99)
- Medium (2000 Crowns for $17.99)
- Large (5000 Crowns for $34.99)
Crystals are needed to start runs and may act as multipliers depending on the tier your purchase. They can multiply your score by up to 4X and can be bought as Crystal Packs using Crowns:
- 3 Pack (400 Crowns for 3 1X Crystals)
- 10 Pack (800 Crowns for 9 1X Crystals and 1 2X Crystal)
- 20 Pack (1500 Crowns for 12 1X, 2 2X, and 1 3X Crystal)
- 40 Pack (4000 Crowns for 30 1X, 7 2X, 2 3X, and 1 4X Crystal)

It took only 24 hours for the Season 1 USDC Prize Pool to grow by 50%, meaning there is currently a $4500+ USDC prize pool up for grabs for the most skilled and dedicated participants of this competitive season, and that pool is likely to grow further as more players join in and more continue to buy Crowns to spend on Crystals in order to try and earn more event points.
“Season 1 marks the beginning of a new competitive chapter. With boss fights, evolving maps, player-driven prize mechanics, and strategic risk-taking, this is the most ambitious evolution of Tollan Survivors to date.”
