From November 7th to November 11th, the Phase V playtest for space survival sim EVE Frontier will officially be live with a massively bigger sci-fi universe to explore and the chance to play and earn Founders Packs. Here's how you can get them!
The latest closed alpha playtest will let participants explore a 22,370% bigger universe than the one in previous test sessions. Next to an expanded world, players will also be able to create teams of up to 5 members, working together to find “fragments scattered across the stars.”
You will be on the lookout for ancient wreckages and “colossal megastructures” holding various secrets deep within. By locating these mysterious areas, you have a chance of finding artifacts. These ancient relics will be possible to find across 3 unique wrecks, and getting them is essential to unlocking “high-tier” Founder Packs (also referred to as Founder Access packs). Every artifact is said to hold 5 exclusive access codes that you can use to get Founders Packs, “the first of their kind.” How many artifacts are there seems to be unknown.
Considering the limited time available and a galaxy that is now 2000 times bigger, it’s going to be quite difficult to find these enigmatic artifacts alone. That’s why the Keeper will be releasing star maps to give you a hint as to which locations you might want to explore for a better chance of reaching these secret places. According to the blog post on the game’s official website, players will have to use these maps and figure out the “matching in-game systems” in order to properly head in the right direction. Even if you do understand the maps properly, getting to the destination will be quite a journey, as you will likely have to traverse a variety of hostile territories before you find your treasure, making it probably better to venture in groups instead of going solo in the dangerous depths of space.
Info on what Founders Packs actually are is not available at the time of writing, but details could end up getting revealed in the game’s Discord server soon. If you want to hunt for these artifacts to gain access to the mysterious exclusive rewards from EVE Online creator CCP Games, who secured $40 million last year to develop this blockchain-powered variant of their renowned MMO, then here’s what you have to do to join this playtest!
Just like with the previous playtests, this one too requires signing an NDA and joining their Discord server. You can register for the Phase V playtest using the link found in the official announcement, which also has a link to their Discord sever. To register for access, you’ll need to use your email address as well as verify it to be able to open up your profile page where you can sign the NDA. Before you can sign it, you will need to connect your Discord profile. Once that’s done, you can sign the NDA and join their server if you haven’t already in order to officially receive the playtester role for this phase. This role will give you access to the game during this playtest while also unlocking Discord channels that are under NDA. These exclusive channels are the only places where you can share content from the playtest, as the NDA prohibits you from publishing any form of content anywhere else.
To play this alpha version of EVE Frontier, you can download the launcher from the community page where you signed the NDA. The launcher is available on Windows and MacOS.
If you already have the NDA-verified role for participating in the Phase IV playtest, which is when Project Awakening was unveiled to be EVE Frontier, you should then automatically be getting access to this new testing period.
