Ronin-powered social farming MMO Pixels has shared a new $PIXEL Ecosystem update, revealing upcoming plans for their web3 gaming ecosystem while posting some impressive staking metrics for their token.
The $PIXEL Ecosystem update covers some key highlights regarding latest developments that have taken place over the past few weeks. These include stats related to $PIXEL staking, Forgotten Runiverse, and Pixel Dungeons.
$PIXEL Staking officially went live on May 1st and has generated an “overwhelmingly positive” response from the blockchain gaming community, according to the official post. From launch to May 15, more than 73 million $PIXEL tokens have been staked across Pixels, Pixel Dungeons, and Forgotten Runiverse. The developers are focused on creating a decentralized publishing ecosystem where the voice of each player matters, with these early staking results said to “prove this model works.” Using the $PIXEL Staking feature allows players to not only earn rewards from the web3 games they enjoy, but it also enables them to impact game development while helping create a player-driven ecosystem and economy.
“Unlike traditional staking systems, $PIXEL Staking is designed so that both players and games win. When you stake your $PIXEL in a game and it performs well, you earn more. Developers, in turn, get access to more visibility and rewards when the community shows support. It’s a system built for sustainability, not just temporary hype.”
The data the team gains from staking is also said to power their proprietary play to earn tech, enabling them to improve reward efficiency, power future publishing decisions, and even train prediction models while measuring and optimizing “Return on Reward Spend (RORS), our north star for ensuring the long-term success of Pixels.”
Since Forgotten Runiverse joined the Pixel ecosystem with the 5 million $PIXEL crossover event, the free to play fantasy MMORPG has had more than 3.6 million $PIXEL tokens staked in just 10 days. Pixel Dungeons is also said to have received a positive early response from the community, with over 300k $PIXEL tokens staked in 2 weeks. The onboarding experience for this game has also been made easier, and players have been able to explore and enjoy new dungeon mechanics. There are now Guilds officially introduced for the free dungeon crawler, as well as a Referral System that lets players invite friends to earn up to 50k Pickaxes, which is said to be a value of 1250 $PIXEL tokens.
The Pixels team has a number of strategic goals and plans they’d like to bring to their growing blockchain gaming ecosystem. Their goals in particular include optimizing RORS for a better balance between “game alignment and reward success,” using staking data to bring more players for sustainable growth, and achieving decentralized decision-making by giving the community the power to decide where rewards, resources, and attention should be allocated to.
Some big plans for the ecosystem are in the works as well. These include $vPIXEL integration, the launch of a pets game, and collaboration with more first- and third-party game developers.
You can possibly look forward to $vPIXEL integration happening by the end of this month, introducing a new utility token that is backed 1:1 by $PIXEL and is usable across partnered games without fees, which is made possible by Limit Break’s ERC20c technology. After bringing Forgotten Runiverse as the first third-party title to the $PIXEL staking ecosystem, the team is now teasing plans to launch a pet game that will revolve around strong social features and more casual mechanics for a more relaxing gaming experience. They aren’t stopping there though, as the developers are in talks with a number of other blockchain gaming teams who may be interested in bringing their games over to the growing staking ecosystem, with each game set to have their own mechanics and reward models in order to attract a wider range of web3 gamers.
“We care deeply about what we’re building, which is why we are emphasizing rewarding players who also believe in contributing to a long-lasting, player-powered Web3 ecosystem. We’ve had to make hard choices along the way, but we’re not building for extractors or short-term thinkers. We’re building for the players who want to see this succeed five, seven, even ten years from now. That means prioritizing sustainable growth, smarter incentives, and a stronger core game.”
Last week, Pixels launched the Rizz-to-Earn event with AiVeronica, which you can still join until May 22 for a potential chance of winning $PIXEL and an airdrop of $AIV tokens.
