Pirate Nation has finally launched its long-awaited PvP mode — and it's kicking things off in style. The two-week event, "The Legend of Anubis," went live on April 1st with a massive prize pool of 10 million $PIRATE tokens, worth around $500k.

Here's what you need to know about this big update and what makes Pirate Nation one of the most exciting on-chain games out there.

Welcome to the PvP Arena

For the first time ever, players can now fight each other to climb the leaderboard and earn serious rewards. The "Legend of Anubis" event runs for two weeks and is packed with action, fresh content, and the chance to claim bragging rights as the best pirate on the seas. And players are wasting no time. Notably, the game saw over 20,000 battles in the first 12 hours of the event alone — proof that the Pirate Nation community is ready for war.

Here's what you can expect:

  • Trophy Battles: Win battles to earn Trophies. But watch out — lose too many fights, and your Trophies will drop.
  • New Leaderboard: Compete to reach the top. Higher ranks mean better rewards.
  • Rare Prizes: Collect exclusive items and unlock the new Anubis Ship Skins.
  • 10 Million $PIRATE in Rewards: That's right — the total prize pool is a jaw-dropping 10M $PIRATE tokens.

The PvP system isn't just about wins and losses. According to the team, all battles are recorded on-chain, making sure everything is fair, transparent, and can't be tampered with.

Note that for the Legend of Anubis event (and all in-game events moving forward), rewards will be reserved for players holding Founder's Pirates or those with an active VIP Pass.

Say Goodbye to Long Seasons

Pirate Nation has also changed how events and challenges work. Before, the game ran long seasons that dragged on for months. Now? It's all about competitive sprints — shorter, faster, and packed with rewards.

Here's how the new meta works:

  • Shorter Events: No more waiting months for a season to end. Each event has a clear timeline.
  • Clear Rewards: You'll know upfront what prizes are on the line.
  • PvP Focused: Pirate Nation is shifting from PvE grinding to player vs. player showdowns.
  • More Than Just $PIRATE: While $PIRATE tokens are still a big prize, other goodies like rare in-game items will be up for grabs.

It's a fresh, faster way to play — designed to keep things fun, fair, and full of pirate mayhem.

PvP Rank Badges: Can You Reach Dread Lord?

Every time you win a PvP battle, you'll earn Trophies that help you climb the ranks. Pirate Nation has introduced a full rank system so you can show off your pirate skills.

The higher you climb, the better your rewards. Even if you lose your rank later, you'll still keep the rewards you earned along the way.

What is Pirate Nation?

For those new to the game, Pirate Nation is a free to play, pirate-themed RPG built entirely on the blockchain. Players can build ships, recruit crews, and set sail across the Infinite Isles, hunting for treasure and glory.

The game is made by Proof of Play, a team packed with veterans from Zynga, EA Games, and Blizzard. They've built Pirate Nation on their own Apex chain, meaning every battle, trade, and quest is recorded on-chain.

Pirate Nation first launched in December 2022 and has grown fast with constant updates. It's one of the first games to fully embrace blockchain tech without the usual web3 headaches.

Gameplay & Economy

In Pirate Nation, players manage their energy to send pirates on quests. They gather resources and battle foes along the way. You can craft new ships and upgrade your island. There are also random islands to explore, each one comes with new loot. The game has a card-based combat system, with each card having its own elemental skills and expertise types. This adds strategy to every fight and keeps battles fresh.

About $PIRATE Tokens

Pirate Nation runs on $PIRATE, an ERC-20 token built on Ethereum. You can earn $PIRATE by winning PvP battles, climbing leaderboards, and completing quests. Once you've earned some, you can spend it on different in-game features. These include crafting, staking, and joining special events. But that's not all. If you want Gems, which are used to buy energy, speed up timers, or get VIP passes, you'll need some $PIRATE too. Plus, players can stake their $PIRATE to earn PoP (Proof of Play) Points. These points reward early players and help shape the game's future. So, the more you play and win, the more power and rewards you can unlock.
