Popular crypto-native IP Pudgy Penguins has unveiled Pengu Clash, a fast-paced, skill-based multiplayer game built on the TON network. The title marks a notable milestone in Pudgy's ongoing expansion into web3 gaming, as the brand looks to tap into Telegram's vast ecosystem.
Built with Elympics, a real-time onchain multiplayer infrastructure, Pengu Clash is designed for short 1v1 matches where players duel in competitive mini-games. The team behind the game promises a fun-first, skill-based environment that focuses on rewarding player ability.
According to the team, early access to Pengu Clash is now available through beta sign-ups. Players can join as one of the first "lil' waddlers" to compete and earn rare NFT traits. Referring more friends will unlock more rewards, and a special Bonus will be given to early birds.
The Telegram mini-app has already gained more than 1 million users on its waitlist, with many players starting to explore its social features.
Pengu Clash brings with it a world of mini-games, including Darts, Football, and Bomber, where players can compete head-to-head for tokenized rewards. Thanks to its integration with Elympics, the game benefits from secure token incentives and real-time tournament systems.
Rather than following the usual "play to earn" model, Pengu Clash adopts a play to win structure. "Pengu Clash points to where web3 gaming is truly headed - toward higher-quality experiences driven by real user engagement," said Tom Kopera, COO and Co-Founder of Elympics. "It's about fun, skill-based gameplay and meaningful token utility."
Their new model hopes to shift the perception of web3 games, which have sometimes been associated with speculative behavior and pay to win mechanics.
Pengu Clash is just one part of a broader push by Pudgy Penguins to transform from a digital collectible brand into a full-scale entertainment IP. First launched in 2021 as a collection of 8,888 Ethereum-based NFTs, the project quickly gained popularity for its cute, meme-worthy art style and tight-knit community.
Since then, Pudgy Penguins has grown beyond profile pictures. Under the leadership of CEO Luca Netz, the brand has expanded into physical toys, retail deals, and a growing suite of web3-enabled games powered by its native PENGU token.
Below are some other gaming projects tied to Pudgy Penguins.
First off, Pudgy World is a social open-world experience where players can customize "Forever Pudgy Penguin" avatars and connect with other users, all from a web browser.
Built on the Ethereum Layer-2 network zkSync, the game uses ZK tech to protect user privacy while enabling seamless, gas-free transactions. Players can unlock exclusive in-game traits by scanning QR codes from physical Pudgy Penguins toys, though the game remains accessible even to non-NFT holders.
Set to release in 2025, Pudgy Party is a mobile party game inspired by hits like Fall Guys. Co-developed with Mythical Games, it focuses on cooperative gameplay and customizable penguins in a light-hearted environment.
The title will run on the Mythos Chain, another blockchain optimized for gaming, which ensures scalability for large player bases. Pudgy Party is set to launch on both iOS and Android, bringing the Pudgy Penguins universe to an even wider mobile audience.
The Pudgy IP is also featured in LOL Land, a dice-based web3 board game by Yield Guild Games. The game draws inspiration from classic titles like Monopoly, allowing players to roll through themed maps, including one called "Ice World Wonderland" which features officially licensed Pudgy Penguins characters.
Set to launch on May 23, LOL Land will run exclusively on the Abstract Chain, with token rewards, NFTs, and in-game assets forming part of the gameplay. This partnership highlights the expanding reach of Pudgy beyond the games that they directly make.
With Pengu Clash, Pudgy Penguins is growing into more than just an NFT project. By entering the web3 gaming scene and embracing platforms like Telegram and TON, the brand is actively working to bring blockchain-based entertainment to the masses.
From physical toy tie-ins to expansive browser games and now Telegram mini-apps, the brand continues to expand its presence in mainstream entertainment.
