In a big move that mixes classic gaming with blockchain tech, Parasol and Jokers Inc. have announced that they're bringing SEGA's iconic CODE OF JOKER series to the Sui network. The latest game, CODE OF JOKER: EVOLUTIONS, will officially go live at the end of summer 2025. It will be available on iOS, Android, and Web.

This is the first major game reveal since Mysten Labs acquired Parasol in March 2025. And it looks like they're wasting no time leveling up web3 gaming on Sui.

A Classic Card Game Meets Blockchain

First launched in 2013 by SEGA, CODE OF JOKER became a fan-favorite in Japanese arcades and online card game circles. Now, thanks to Sui's tech and Parasol's platform, the series is set for an on-chain evolution.

This new version, CODE OF JOKER: EVOLUTIONS, will bring the digital trading card game onchain, letting players truly own, trade, and showcase their card collections. It's part of a bigger plan to blend blockchain tech with classic gaming IP.

"From our first conversation on what a digital experience of CODE OF JOKER: EVOLUTIONS would look like, we knew that we wanted to match the physical feeling of opening a new card pack," said Takashi "Gin" Mizouka, Co-founder of Jokers Inc.

"Sui was the only blockchain that could make this vision a reality, and we are thrilled to be working alongside the Parasol team on the first of many collaborations. Jokers has already secured multiple licensing agreements with major Japanese character IPs, and we're excited to bring them onto Sui, further expanding the web3 gaming landscape."

What Is Parasol & How It's Changing Web3 Gaming

Parasol is a gaming infrastructure platform that helps builders easily plug blockchain features into their games without hurting the game quality. They give game studios tools to tokenize in-game items, build marketplaces, and create on-chain player accounts without players even noticing the web3 elements.

Parasol became part of Mysten Labs last month in a deal aimed at "supercharging" gaming on Sui. Their mission is simple: make it easier for devs to build top-tier blockchain games that regular gamers will actually want to play.

Kai Chen, CEO of Parasol, said, "Our work with CODE OF JOKER: EVOLUTIONS is a labor of love from a team that grew up on classic Japanese gaming. Sui is the only blockchain capable of providing the technical support our gaming partners are looking for, and we're very grateful for Jokers Inc.'s and Sega's support in our flagship endeavor. There's much more to come."

Mysten Labs & Sui's Big Push into Gaming

Mysten Labs is the company behind the Sui network. It was founded by ex-Meta developers, including Evan Cheng and Sam Blackshear, to create the next-gen Layer 1 blockchain. Their tech, which uses the Move programming language, makes games faster, cheaper, and scalable—ideal for on-chain gaming.

When Mysten Labs bought Parasol, they made it clear that gaming is a big part of Sui's future. Speaking about the partnership, Evan Cheng, CEO of Mysten Labs, said, "When we met the Parasol team a year ago, it quickly became clear that they shared our belief that gaming will be at the forefront of web3 transformation, and that gamers will be among the first to adopt the decentralized economy. With its wide span of SEGA Corporation IPs, CODE OF JOKERS: EVOLUTIONS is the perfect first collaboration between classic gaming IP and blockchain-powered gaming."

Since its mainnet launch, the Sui ecosystem has been pushing hard into web3 games. It's already home to games like Panzerdogs, a PvP tank brawler, and SuiPlay, a platform featuring Sui-built games. Sui has also backed projects like SEED, aiming to build a 100-million-user gaming ecosystem, and awarded grants to teams like Beamable to improve Web3 gaming infrastructure.

What to Expect from CODE OF JOKER: EVOLUTIONS

The new CODE OF JOKER series will offer players:

  • Digital card ownership: Every card will be tokenized on Sui.
  • Card trading and marketplaces: Players can freely trade cards with others.
  • Real ownership of digital assets: No more "you own it, but not really."

More details about future partnerships and game mechanics are expected soon. With this collab, Parasol and Jokers are betting that fans of classic Japanese games will want to collect, trade, and battle in a fully on-chain world.

This move is one of the biggest steps yet in Sui's push to bring real games—not just gimmicks—to blockchain. And it's clear that Parasol, now backed by Mysten Labs, is ready to roll out more major IPs soon.

If you're a fan of trading card games, Japanese arcade classics, or web3 gaming, you'll want to keep an eye out for CODE OF JOKER: EVOLUTIONS when it goes live later this year.
