Lucky Kat Studios, the developers of free to play tank brawler Panzerdogs, has officially announced the introduction of their very own gaming protocol: Takibi.

What Is Takibi?

Takibi is an asset layer on Sui that is built to provide multichain infrastructure and a user-friendly toolkit for traditional game developers who are not experienced in using blockchain technology. With this $KOBAN-powered network, web2 gaming companies don’t need to know anything about web3 to start making crypto games, making it easier for all studios to jump into the world of blockchain gaming.

According to the metaverse game studio building this gaming protocol, entering web3 game development can be a daunting task for many studios due to all the technical knowledge required to make on-chain games properly work, but high server costs and the lack of a defined NFT standard also make it tricky to navigate this field. Developers who are otherwise capable of making excellent games can feel as if they're at a dead end when trying to integrate blockchain-enabled features as a result of all these complexities. It's these barriers that Lucky Kat is looking to remove with their new gaming protocol, making it easier for creatives to focus on what they know and love doing best.

What Benefits Does Takibi Offer to Game Devs?

Takibi is set to bring a host of different benefits that could lead to more game developers testing out the usage of web3-powered features in their games.

Some of the features of this node-powered protocol include shared gaming infrastructure, defined NFT and dNFT standards; an in-game marketplace, and accessible DeFi capabilities. This means that not only is development more streamlined when using this protocol, but gamers get to benefit as well thanks to seamless integration of NFTs that can be easily bought, sold, traded, and transferred, but also thanks to the inclusion of user-friendly DeFi functions that allow players to easily swap, lend, and even earn APR right in the game that utilizes this infrastructure.

The announcement thread also reveals that the protocol will use nodes for decentralized scalability, so you can likely look forward to a node sale at some point in the future.

Unifying all of the features of this protocol is the $KOBAN token. While initially designed as an in-game utility token, it looks like the use cases for $KOBAN are now significantly expanding, becoming a core protocol token.

How Does Takibi Expand $KOBAN Utility?

$KOBAN will move away from just being a gaming token once this protocol launches, and becoming an ecosystem token instead that will be used both by gamers and developers. While the token’s current utility will be retained, it’s also getting plenty of new use cases that could help the token reach new audiences as the team gears up to publicly launch $KOBAN in 2025.

Alongside existing utility such as staking, in-game spending, and asset transferring, the token’s revamp to becoming a core ecosystem cryptocurrency means that it will start being distributed as a reward to node operators who help in supporting and decentralizing the network. Its utility will also continuously grow as various blockchain games that launch on this interoperable protocol integrate this token to deliver an engaging play to earn experience.

“$KOBAN is no longer just a gaming token; it’s the foundation of a scalable, interoperable ecosystem—a protocol with far-reaching use cases for developers.”

When Will Takibi Launch?

An official release date for the Takibi protocol is not available at the time of writing. Developer Lucky Kat however closed out their official X thread by teasing that the MVP for this network is currently in development, with the team also working on scaling partnerships and removing the hurdles of web3 game development to deliver a strong launch with useful tools that can help developers easily create enjoyable blockchain gaming experiences, such as Panzerdogs, within this interoperable ecosystem.
