Otherside Unveils Project Dragon - First Battle to Kick Off on July 27th

On July 27th, the Otherside metaverse, powered by ApeChain, will launch "Project Dragon," a new NFT game, taking place in a series of monthly gameplay events. Built in partnership with Improbable using the Otherside Developer Kit (ODK), Project Dragon promises a thrilling shooter experience. Here's everything you need to know:

Meet Project Dragon

The first Project Dragon event will begin on July 27th, 12 PM ET. This two-hour event will take place in Meetropolis, a voxelized paradise within the Otherside. Players will split into two teams, Orange and Aqua, to engage in intense battles. Each team will fight for Control Beacons scattered across the map. Each beacon serves as a point of interest, and the first team that depletes the opposing team's beacon power will win the round.

Meetropolis is not just a battlefield; it's a dynamic hub filled with various activities. Players can explore mazes, relax on the beach, or engage in the main event, which involves capturing and defending control points. 

Who Can Join?

Players must hold at least one NFT from the Yuga collections to join this game. Eligible collections include Meebits, Voyagers (including Otherdeed Expanded and Otherside Relics), Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC), Otherside Koda, Kodamara, Grailed, Moonbirds, and HV-MTL. Based on your NFTs, you can play as a Bored Ape (if you're holding a BAYC) or a Meebit (if you're holding Meebits), and so on. 

How to Join?

To access this event, players must create a Yuga ID, which can be done at launch.otherside.xyz. Once registered, users can connect their wallets to access their NFT avatars. The system also supports wallet delegation via Warm.xyz and Delegate.xyz, so players don't have to directly connect wallets with token assets. 

Game Lore and Mechanics

Project Dragon is a game that revolves around Meetropolis in the Otherside. It's a place where every corner offers new adventures. Players can ride the Squaris wheel, navigate mazes, or relax on the beach. But the main attraction is the fierce combat between Team Orange and Team Aqua. Players can choose sides, plan, and engage in chaotic battles using shotguns, grenades, and other weapons.

Once a Control Beacon is captured, teams must defend it from being recaptured by the other team. Players earn points by capturing and defending beacons, and those who are slain can respawn at any beacon that their team controls. The goal is to deplete the opposing team's beacon power to zero to win the match. 

More About Otherside

Otherside is an interoperable metaverse built by Yuga Labs, the creators of BAYC. It combines elements of MMORPG with Web3-enabled virtual worlds. Players own virtual plots called Otherdeeds, which can evolve based on players' actions.

Otherside features a host of dynamic environments. These include Biogenic Swamps, Chemical Goo, Rainbow Atmos, Cosmic Dream, and Infinite Expanse. Kodas, on the other hand, are mysterious beings within the Otherside.

Otherside is designed to be highly interactive and immersive. It uses Improbable's M² (Msquared) technology, which supports over 10,000 concurrent players. Greg Solano resumed the role of CEO at Yuga Labs in February. He emphasized gaming and committed to focusing efforts on areas where the firm has seen success.

The game saw 4,500 concurrent players during its first trip and 7,200 during the second. When it was first launched in May 2022, its Otherdeeds collection raked in $317 million in sales.
