OpenSea CMO Adam Hollander has officially shared a list of major platform changes set to roll out soon. In a detailed post on X, he laid out 4 major updates, each affecting a different part of the OpenSea platform: OpenSea Mobile, the Flagship NFT Collection, the final phase of the Pre-TGE Rewards program, and an update on the long-awaited $SEA token.

These changes come as part of the company's ongoing expansion, which has accelerated following its acquisition of Rally. According to Hollander, the new tools are designed to make OpenSea not just a place for NFT trading, but a complete onchain trading experience.

OpenSea mobile app

OpenSea Mobile Includes AI Trading Tools

At the center of the update is the announcement of the OpenSea Mobile App. This is not just a regular mobile wallet. According to the team, it has been redesigned from the ground up to support smarter onchain trading with AI built into the platform itself.

Unlike many wallets that require constant switching between interfaces and platforms, OpenSea Mobile brings everything together in one place. Users will be able to manage their tokens, NFTs, and wallets across different chains all from one app. This is part of OpenSea's new "OS2" phase, which is focused on rebuilding the platform's key systems to be more user-friendly.

Hollander says the new mobile app is also launching with a new AI layer called "OpenSea Intelligence." This feature works by analyzing users' entire portfolios across different chains. The goal is to help people make better and faster trades by providing insights in real-time. The same infrastructure that powers this AI system was recently made available to developers via MCP servers.

For those interested in early access, waitlists for both the mobile beta and the OS Intelligence tool are expected to open in the next couple of weeks.

OpenSea Flagship Collection

Flagship Collection to Highlight Historic and Emerging NFTs

Next to the mobile news, OpenSea also announced its "Flagship Collection." This is an official collection curated by the company, which will include a mix of historically important NFTs and newer pieces from emerging artists. The total investment behind this is already in the 7-figure range.

The first piece in the collection is CryptoPunk #5273. According to the update, OpenSea will share a full breakdown of each item they acquire and explain why it was chosen. The idea is to give each creator a clear spotlight, while also helping preserve web3's cultural history.

Selection of items for the Flagship Collection will be made by a group that includes OpenSea staff and external digital art advisors. The process includes "integrity controls," with more details available in the platform's Learn Center. Hollander also confirmed he won't be part of the selection team, likely to avoid direct pressure from the community on future picks.

OpenSea final pre-TGE reward phase

Final Pre-TGE Reward Phase Starts September 15

The next update involves the final stage of OpenSea's Pre-TGE Rewards program. Starting next week, half of all platform fees will go toward a massive vault of token and NFT prizes.

This includes 1% of fees from NFT trades and 0.85% from token trades. OpenSea has also preloaded the vault with $1 million worth of $OP and $ARB to kick off the phase. When users next log in to their Rewards Portal, they'll get a "Starter Treasure Chest" that can be upgraded throughout the season.

There are 3 main ways to level up the chest: trading across 22 chains, finishing daily "Voyages," and collecting surprise "Shipments." Each chest will contain a Treasure ranging from tier 1 to tier 12, with better loot unlocked at higher levels. Some users may even discover rare NFTs like Pudgy Penguins or Bored Apes.

All of this ties directly into the coming $SEA token. Higher-tier Treasures will play a key role in the token's launch, and the Foundation will take them into account when allocating future rewards.

Those who've been active in Voyages over the last few months will also receive a special Treasure chest on September 15. This will reflect their XP progress from the previous season and be similarly tiered from 1 to 12.

$SEA Token Update Coming in October

The final part of the announcement focused on $SEA, the upcoming token from the OpenSea Foundation. While no launch date has been shared yet, the Foundation plans to release full TGE (Token Generation Event) details in early October.

The update acknowledges the growing excitement across Discord and X. Hollander says that enthusiasm is matched by careful work behind the scenes. The Foundation is looking to launch $SEA with strong long-term goals in mind, including holding incentives and stability features.

$SEA will also reward historic platform activity. This reward will be separate from the current Pre-TGE Rewards program and will come directly from the Foundation at the time of the TGE.

More updates on $SEA are expected in the coming weeks as OpenSea finishes this final phase before launch.

OpenSea's OS2 Upgrade and Expansion Into Web3 Gaming

With that in mind, OpenSea's broader upgrade to "OS2" plays a central role in how the platform is evolving.

Launched out of beta in May, OS2 supports token trading across 19 chains, along with a fully rebuilt user experience. This includes faster listings, cross-chain purchases, improved analytics, and new discovery tools. One highlight is "Voyages," a quest-based reward system that gives users XP for exploring the platform. Whether it's a cross-chain swap or gallery share, each task boosts engagement and progress. New quests rotate weekly and are designed to reward consistency and creativity.

OpenSea is also making its presence known in web3 gaming. In May, Fortnite pro Kyle "Mongraal" Jackson joined as the platform's first global gaming ambassador. Known for his success in both esports and web3 titles like Dookey Dash, Mongraal now advocates for player ownership and digital transparency. His move aligns with OpenSea's broader goal to link competitive gaming with real digital ownership, as the platform continues building toward a smarter and more unified onchain experience.
