Nine Chronicles has launched a new Season Pass. The fully onchain MMORPG announced the pass has arrived ahead of the next Arena season, inviting players to gear up and earn rewards as they fight through the game's core content. The studio framed it around a simple promise: battle harder, progress further, and unlock rewards every step of the way.
The pass is built around three distinct progression tracks, each tied to a different way of playing: Courage, World Clear, and Adventure Boss. That structure lets players focus on the content they enjoy most while still earning meaningful rewards across the board.
The three reward tracks
Each track targets a specific playstyle and reward type. The Courage track is the broadest of the three, serving as the foundation of the system. Players earn Courage EXP simply by playing the game across its main content, and the track rewards them with various game materials and legendary titles every season. It is the path most players will progress through naturally as they play.
The World Clear track is designed for players pushing through the game's world stages. Completing worlds generates rewards, and it is the track most tied to character progression and cosmetics, granting numerous summoning materials and an exclusive sacred costume. Premium holders receive a larger share of these rewards. The Adventure Boss track focuses specifically on the game's Adventure Boss content, rewarding players with rune stones used for upgrading various runes. That makes it the go-to path for players focused on strengthening their characters through the rune system.
How the Season Pass works
The Season Pass lets players earn experience points and level up by engaging with the game's content, unlocking rewards as their pass level rises. Experience is earned through adventure, arena, and world boss content, so ordinary play across the game feeds progression. As the pass level increases, players claim a steadily escalating set of rewards along each track.
The pass offers both free and premium options. Premium holders gain instant access to exclusive bonus loot across all three tracks, giving paying players a significant advantage while still leaving meaningful rewards for free-tier participants. A Premium+ option grants a large amount of pass experience immediately, along with additional exclusive rewards. Progression does not stop at the top either, since players continue to receive repeat rewards each time they level up after reaching the maximum level. The pass is timed to arrive before the next Arena season, so players can build up materials, costumes, and runes before competitive play begins.
Inside Nine Chronicles
Nine Chronicles is a fully decentralized, open-source idle MMORPG developed by Planetarium Labs. It is set in a Norse-inspired fantasy world where players aid the goddess Freya in an eternal struggle against a spreading evil. The game is designed to be community-owned and infinitely moddable, running on its own blockchain network so that, in the studio's framing, the world can never be shut down. It has drawn backing from names including Ubisoft and Hashed, and it has been live since September 2021.
The gameplay revolves around crafting, synthesis, and adventuring. Players battle through stages, level up their character, upgrade equipment, and grow stronger over time, with an idle structure that lets progress continue even while away. Higher tiers demand careful stat building through gear, runes, and collections, which is where the Season Pass rewards come in, supplying the materials, costumes, and rune stones needed to push into tougher content. The three-track design directly maps onto the game's core pillars of general play, world progression, and boss challenges.
Competitive seasons and the economy
Competitive Arena seasons are central to Nine Chronicles, and the new Season Pass is built to feed directly into them. The game runs ranked Arena seasons and special events across its Odin and Heimdall chains, with weekly ranking bonuses and medal-based rewards. Recent seasons have carried substantial prize pools, including a 400,000 NCG pool in Heimdall Arena Season 20, part of a competitive calendar that has distributed millions of NCG to top players since the Heimdall chain launched in late 2023.
The economy runs on Nine Chronicles Gold, or NCG, as its primary in-game currency, alongside a wrapped version called WNCG for use in external environments. The game recently reworked how seasonal rewards are distributed, moving from a purely ranking-based system to one where the total reward pool is shared based on players' contributions, and letting players claim rewards individually during a two-week off-season rather than in a single bulk payout. That shift rewards participation throughout a season, not just final rank, aligning neatly with a Season Pass that pays out steadily as players engage.
Gearing up for what comes next
The new Season Pass fits Nine Chronicles' steady cadence of updates, arriving alongside features like new runes, costumes, and the game's expanding Adventure Boss and Rune Battle systems. By splitting rewards across Courage, World Clear, and Adventure Boss tracks, the studio gives players clear goals whether they prefer general grinding, stage progression, or boss hunting, and rewards them with the exact materials each path demands.
For players, the timing is the key takeaway. With the pass live now and the next Arena season on the horizon, this is the window to build up summoning materials, claim the exclusive sacred costume, and stockpile rune stones before competitive play kicks off. As the studio put it to its community of Adventurers, the goal is to battle harder, progress further, and unlock rewards at every step ahead of the fight to come.
