Nine Chronicles has shipped a new update. Version v200460 introduces the all-new Bifrost Reforged event dungeon, where Adventurers can complete 13 new collections and enjoy a 3x Mileage Event during the event period. The run lasts from July 21 to August 23, and the studio is urging players to update the game and jump straight into the action.
The release builds on the game's recent event structure, extending a dungeon line that has become a regular way to hand players targeted rewards. By pairing a fresh dungeon with a batch of collections and a mileage boost, the update gives both new and veteran players a reason to log in across the month-long window.
What the update adds
The centerpiece is the Bifrost Reforged event dungeon, a limited-time dungeon that follows in the footsteps of the earlier Bifrost Gate. These event dungeons are built to help players gather rare, event-exclusive materials, which typically feed into collections and long-term character progression. In past editions, the format introduced exclusive event materials used to complete collections that grant meaningful stat boosts, and Bifrost Reforged continues that model.
Alongside the dungeon come 13 new collections. In Nine Chronicles, collections are permanent stat-boosting sets that players complete by gathering specific materials, so a batch of 13 gives players clear goals to chase and a lasting power increase once completed. Collections are a core progression system, particularly for players pushing into the game's tougher content tiers.
The third pillar is a 3x Mileage Event running through the same period. Mileage acts as a loyalty-style reward in Nine Chronicles, and tripling it during the event rewards players for staying active across the full July 21 to August 23 window. Together, the dungeon, collections, and mileage boost form a bundle designed to drive engagement throughout the event.
Inside Nine Chronicles
Nine Chronicles is a fully decentralized, open-source idle MMORPG developed by Planetarium Labs. It is set in a Norse-inspired fantasy world where players aid the goddess Freya in an eternal struggle against a spreading evil. The game is designed to be community-owned and infinitely moddable, running on its own blockchain network so that, in the studio's framing, the world can never be shut down. It has drawn backing from names including Ubisoft and Hashed.
The gameplay revolves around crafting, synthesis, and adventuring. Players battle through stages, level up their character, upgrade equipment, and feed their warrior to grow stronger, with an idle structure that lets progress continue over time. Higher tiers, including the game's Hard Mode, demand careful stat building through gear, runes, and collections, which is exactly where event dungeons like Bifrost Reforged come in. By supplying rare materials and collection boosts, these dungeons help players clear the complexities of the harder content.
The economy runs on Nine Chronicles Gold, or NCG, as its primary in-game currency, alongside a wrapped version called WNCG for use in external environments. Crafting, synthesis, and market trading sit at the center of that economy, with items like Catalyst Potions playing a key role in high-level progression since the launch of Hard Mode. Recent updates have also refined quality-of-life systems, adding faster reward claims through a SWEEP function for event dungeons, higher buff caps, lower synthesis costs, and expanded rune leveling.
The wider Nine Chronicles Universe
Bifrost Reforged is one piece of a steadily expanding ecosystem the studio calls the Nine Chronicles Universe, or NCU. The team has been building out additional projects tied to the core game's lore, including a title that follows the main story of Odin's Conspiracy, aimed at bringing in new players on a new platform while giving longtime fans more to explore. A second major NCU project, Ragnarok Breaker, has also been teased as part of that growth.
The studio has leaned on community creativity to feed that pipeline. It has run game jams and said it is reviewing high-quality community projects for possible integration into the NCU, reflecting the game's open-source, moddable foundation. Work on letting players make payments with WNCG in external environments points to an economy the team wants to stretch beyond the game client itself.
Why event dungeons matter
For active players, event dungeons are among the most efficient ways to power up. They concentrate rare materials and collection progress into a limited window, so participating during the event yields boosts that would otherwise take far longer to earn. The 13 new collections in Bifrost Reforged make that especially valuable, since completed collections deliver permanent stat gains rather than temporary buffs.
The 3x Mileage Event adds a second incentive layer on top, rewarding consistent play with extra loyalty currency. With the dungeon live now through August 23 and the game already updated to v200460, Nine Chronicles is giving its community a month-long stretch to grind the new content, complete the collections, and stack mileage before the event closes.
