Nike is live on Solana as a tokenized equity, issued by Backpack Securities and brought onchain through Sunrise. The listing was announced on September 8, 2026.
The token represents real Nike shares held in custody. Trading settles onchain and runs 24 hours a day, while each token remains redeemable 1:1 for the underlying share, with a two way conversion path between the traditional security entitlement and its tokenized form handled through Backpack Securities.
How Sunrise Works
Sunrise, created by Wormhole Labs, is not a bridge in the conventional sense. It functions as an asset listing orchestration platform, coordinating the infrastructure an asset needs to arrive on Solana properly rather than simply wrapping it.
Every Sunrise listing carries three components. A single canonical mint ensures there is one official version of the token rather than competing wrapped variants. Day one liquidity is established before launch instead of building up afterward. Ecosystem wide distribution pushes the asset across wallets, decentralised exchanges, and aggregators simultaneously.
The process runs in three stages. Align covers the issuer sharing details and goals while Sunrise evaluates fit. Activate coordinates mint creation, liquidity setup, and integrations. Propagate launches the asset across Solana infrastructure at once.
That structure addresses the fragmentation problem that has plagued cross chain assets. A token with three competing versions splits its liquidity three ways, and Sunrise exists specifically to prevent that at the point of listing. The platform is framework agnostic, supporting NTT, OFT, CCIP, LayerZero, and Hyperlane.
The Numbers Behind Tokenized Equities on Solana
Nike brings the total number of assets listed through Sunrise on Solana to 40. Tokenized stocks dominate that roster with 14 tokens and cumulative spot trading volume of 1.5 billion USD.
The clearest demonstration came with SpaceX. SPCX listed on June 12, 2026 alongside the company's Nasdaq IPO and recorded 439 million USD in trading volume during its first week, with 9.8 million USD in liquidity and 91.7 percent of all tokenized SpaceX volume across every venue. Solana reached 1.04 billion USD in weekly tokenized equities volume during that period.
Other tokenized equities currently listed include Micron Technology, SanDisk, RoboStrategy, and the Roundhill Memory ETF, alongside Strategy shares. Earlier Sunrise listings brought crypto assets including MON, HYPE, AVAX, SUI, and TAO to Solana.
Why a Consumer Brand Is Different
Most tokenized equities listed so far have been technology companies, financial instruments, or index products. Nike is a consumer brand with global name recognition that has nothing to do with crypto or finance.
That distinction matters for who the product reaches. A tokenized Micron share appeals to someone already tracking semiconductor stocks. A tokenized Nike share is legible to anyone, and the 24 hour trading window is a genuine feature rather than a technical detail for people in time zones where American market hours are inconvenient.
The 1:1 redemption is the part that separates this from synthetic exposure. A holder is not buying a derivative tracking Nike's price, they are holding a claim on a real share sitting in custody, convertible in either direction.
What This Means for Web3 Gaming
No game is involved here, and Nike's own web3 history sits elsewhere. The company acquired RTFKT in 2021 and wound it down in early 2025, which was a digital collectibles play rather than a financial one.
The relevance runs through the chain rather than the brand. Solana has become one of the most active networks for onchain games, hosting Pumpville, Kintara, Mattle Fun, AFK Heroes, BR1 Infinite, Colony: Survival, Evergrow, and the entire Solana Mobile ecosystem built around the Seeker device. Every asset class that arrives on the chain deepens the liquidity and infrastructure those games sit on top of.
Tokenized equities in particular bring a different kind of user. Someone opening a Solana wallet to trade Nike or SpaceX shares around the clock is not a crypto native arriving for a game, but they now hold the wallet that games require. That is the same onboarding path the Seeker device created through hardware, arriving instead through finance.
The pattern across recent months has been consistent. Standard Chartered issued a licensed stablecoin alongside Animoca Brands, Mastercard sponsored a chain level developer event, Coinbase opened Bitcoin backed mortgages through a conventional originator, and OpenSea added Solana NFT support. Traditional finance and consumer brands keep arriving at the infrastructure layer, and games occupy the layer above it whether or not they participate in building it.
