NFT Worlds Rebrands to TOPIA, Plans for Full Game Release this Year

TOPIA is the new name for NFT Worlds

NFT Worlds, a Minecraft-inspired metaverse game, has officially rebranded to TOPIA. The latest move comes as the project vows to make a huge comeback following Minecraft's NFT ban last July. 

ArkDev, co-founder of NFT Worlds, took to Twitter to announce the exciting news. The collaborative independent game is set to launch a playable alpha in Q2, followed by a full game release later this year. 

Created from the ground up in Rust, TOPIA is a brand-new version of NFT Worlds built with various features reflecting the Web3 ethos. The game, which will be available on PC and web browsers, will be free to play. There will be extensive cosmetic skins for players to try out and a diverse set of tools for creators to build in the open world. 

On May 5th, all present landholders were airdropped with their equivalent worlds on TOPIA, which is now hosted under a new contract. All existing traits, rarities, and world ranks are preserved. Many fans are also amazed at the improved graphics of the updated worlds. 

The new NFT Worlds game engine is being built on top of MetaFab, a powerful end-to-end solution for developers to integrate blockchain tech into their games. TOPIA will also operate on its own chain in the near future, which could be on Arbitrum L3, Polygon Supernet, or AVAX Subnet. With that, the $WRLD token will serve as a network token for users to pay transaction fees. 

While the voxel-based game is mostly inspired by Minecraft, the team insists that TOPIA is not subject to the Minecraft EULA since they own the entire IP and created TOPIA from the ground up. None of the code, textures, models, and assets are directly tied to the Minecraft game. 

As of writing, the team has not released any gameplay preview of TOPIA. However, players can expect new mobs and UI features when the game arrives in Q2.
