On August 22, 2024, My Pet Hooligan launched a major update called "Double Tap! Part Deux," bringing back the original OG Hooligans look and introducing new features like "Street Kred" and various gameplay enhancements. This update aims to enrich the player experience with improved mechanics, new quests, and a host of exciting changes that promise to keep the chaos fresh and engaging.

What is My Pet Hooligan?

My Pet Hooligan is a fast-paced multiplayer web3 game where players take on the role of mischievous characters in a chaotic open world. In the game, players explore the large city of Hooliland, completing various quests that range from simple tasks to complex missions. These quests earn players rewards like experience points (XP) and "Street Kred," an important in-game currency. Combat is a key part of the game, with players using a wide range of customizable weapons, from baseball bats to rocket launchers. 

To win, players need to master these weapons, complete quests strategically, and earn Street Kred to upgrade their abilities and gear. Success comes from quick reflexes, smart decisions, and outmaneuvering opponents to become a dominant force in the game.

Key Enhancements and New Features

My Pet Hooligan has rolled out a major update, bringing a host of improvements and new features to enhance the play to earn gameplay. The update kicks off with an audio upgrade, adding reverb and echo effects to make the chaotic world of Hooliland sound more immersive. Multiplayer bots have also received a boost, becoming smarter and faster, which raises the difficulty level for players, making battles more challenging.

The update introduces a proximity respawn feature, allowing players to respawn closer to where they were last active, reducing the frustration of being relocated far from the action. Previously, players might find themselves respawning far from their last location, leading to frustration and unnecessary time spent getting back to the action. With the new proximity respawn system, players will now reappear closer to where they left off, minimizing downtime and keeping them engaged in the game. This includes adding visible weapon controls for easier management, though rebound controls are still in development.

To ensure a fair and balanced gameplay experience, the update also includes weapon balance adjustments. This change increases the effectiveness of melee weapons, making them a more viable option in close combat situations. Additionally, the explosion radius of certain weapons, such as the Rocket Launcher, has been reduced.

The in-game movie theater has been refreshed with new trivia and trailers, offering players a fun way to take a break and enjoy pop culture content within the game.

Looking ahead, the My Pet Hooligan team has teased several exciting features that are currently in the works. These include a complete overhaul of the MPH user accounts and user interface (UI), the introduction of an in-game store where players can purchase items and upgrades, and a web3 store that will likely integrate more deeply with blockchain technology. The team is also committed to ongoing bug fixes.
